T-Maxx Problems

Ever Since Break in i have had a problem with my maxx its either this or that. Well This time it was the last straw i was driving my maxx and i took a turn and hit a fence. When i put it into reverse it worked, but then when i flipped the switch to go back in to forward it went backwards. I tried tighting the spring on the rod but it didn't work. :hammer: could it be a piece inside? :shrug: Do i have to buy a new one. and also The blue wire on the EZ-Start do anyof you guys use it or should i get rid of it and use a regular igniter? i ask this because it never works and then i use a friends igniter and it starts right up.

As for your reverse/forward issue....sounds like something got loose or perhaps broke when you hit the fence. I'm not sure but i'm sure someone (Rolex) will probably have a solution for you. As for the blue wire for the ezstart. I used it for a little while but I found it alot easier just using a glow ignitor. By using a glow ignitor, it saves you alot of battery on the ez start as well. I just hate it because when you use another body you need to cut holes for the ignitor and the ezstart if you don't like taking the body on/off each time you need to start it up.

Ditch the blue wire for a regular glow plug ignitor. As far as the forward/reverse problem, if you are in forward or reverse and the RPMs are too high, it wont shift back, even if the servo moves the arm. Try lowering your idle and try it out again.

Use an igniter instead of the wire. It'll save u some headaches.

The reverse issue, just like .21rc10gt said, wait til the Rpms are down before switching direction. Think of ur 1:1 car and how u come to a full stop before changing gear.

in the manual it says wait until your totally stoped so i did and it still didn't work. any other sugestions. is there any better servos for that or no.

their is a screw that is on the carb throat not the HSN or the LSN but a small screw just turn it a bit counter clockwise and it should close the throat gap a bit

This happen so me some times. Try driving in revers a little, then go into fowad. i thing the gear gets cought whille shifting some times.

i agree with lazydave, it happens to me all the time, what i do is move the foward/reverse switch in to the position it is stuck in then accelerate slowly for about 2 feet, then stop, then try moving to foward again. if that doesn't work, repeat 2-3 more times, If it still won't work, call traxxas, 1-888-traxxas.

A few things, most of them suggested already. Ditch the blue wire. A lot of the EZ starts have a problem in the circuit board that does NOT send current to the glo plug. Using the blue wire also drains the starter battery a lot quicker. Get a separate glo ignitor.
As for reverse, yes you need to lower the idle for smooth transition from forward to reverse. It might be just a trim adjustment on your radio. Try turning it down to lower the idle. If you can't lower it with the trim, check the manual to find the idle screw. It is NOT the one in the linkage ring, but below that.

The other is to shift it, then blip the throttle. If it's still in reverse, shift the button to reverse and blip it again. Make a TOTAL stop, shift it into forward and blip it again. If, after trying that several times, it still won't go back in forward, it's most likely a high idle problem.
