I have a few  problems and questions with my T-maxx 2.5

First off, I would like to state that I'm a newbie.

1) My radio only works for about 50-100 feet, I have taken many roll-overs and was wondering if it might be my antenna.

2) I am considering upgrading to a Picco P2, I would like to know what parts I should upgrade (ex. drivetrain ect.) A list would be nice

3) I was also considering upgrading servos ( I probably would get a good steering servo then move my current steering servo to the throttle/brake position. Then move that servo to the shifting positio, or keep as an extra) and/or getting a Futuba 3PK. Soo, what would be the best servo to get?

4) Finally I experienced the hard way that I need a Failsafe (If going 30 mph into a stone wall 100ft. away isn't the hard way I don't know what is!
 ) ,so I was curious to find out what the best failsafe is, that can fit in a reciever box. [note: I live in NE so we do not order from some companys

Thank you so much!!!

get this ( http://www.osengines.com/engines/osmg2112.html ) instead of the P2...the P2 sucks....they will NOT hold a good tune.....and they are prone to air leaks....not just mine but 2 other people I've met had the exact same issues......when it's running it is an awsome engine...but the problems are just too much to deal......and w/ any bigger engine you upgrade the drivetrain.....

A sirio .23 mid block would be a good choice if you had some $$$. But, you will need to upgrade a lot of your driveline for example; go from the plastic sliders to cvds and metal gears in the tranny (Robinson Racing makes most of em). I dont think you will be fitting a failsafe inside the reciever, because there isnt much room in there in the first place. I use an Ofna failsafe but there are others like venom, etc... If you go to a bigger engine, be sure to shim the diffs, because even with RRP diff gears, you can still wear them out because they arent shimmed properly.

Your antenna might not be uncoliled all the way or you may have something that is broken not sure though. You should do wut the tmaxx video says walk like 100 yards and test.

I have the picco p2 and i love it. I have had it for about 4 months now and it is running like a champ. For me i have had no air leaks and it holds a tune very very well. It is also very quick. Also it always starts right up with no problem at all. As for upgrading the drivetrain, i just got the picco and didnt upgrde anything. I didnt have a whole lot of spare $$$ at the time so i decided to upgrade stuff as it broke. So far the only thing that has gone wrong is that i stripped out a spur gear. I drive it pretty hard. Anyhoo, i hope that helped you a bit.

I got a dynamite failsafe to fit perfectly in the rx box. It is in a baloon and I cut a little window in the box so I can see the status light through the baloon.

Thanks everyone, Your input was very helpful! I am still curious to know what you think of the Futuba 3PK. Also, what high torque steering servo do you prefer/suggest. Also, Plaidfish & .21Rc10GT, are those engines a direct replacement for the TRX 2.5, or do I need a conversion kit; and is it compatable with the easy start system just as the P2 is?
Thanks again!!!

Get a HS-645MG hitec servo. It does the job well. failsafes i say if they do the job then it is fine. also use a servo saver with your hitec servo. otherwise you'll damage it in a crash. i have a Ofna Servo Saver Heavy Duty w/CNC Top. i would cheek with other people about that saver though.

I believe the sirio .23 just slips right in the stock chassis and exhaust. It does make excellent power, so you may have to upgrade the driveline.

or this could happen

i have the sirio.23 in my maxx, only thing i had to do was make my throtle linkage a little longer to keep it from getting stuck wide open. i love that motor it has tons of power. i ran a gallon of fuel throught it. i drive it mostly on concrete acellerating pretty hard. so far I've only stripped the stock spur gear. my friend has the p2 in his truck. everytime he runs it, it has to be retuned. if you have the money to spend go with the sirio and save yourself some headaches

Two days ago I took apart my reciever box and sure enough the antenna had been partly stripped. So I tried taking it apart farther and the antenna snapped. It only last about 1 to 1 1/2 inches, does that make a difference in range. Also, after opening up the rx (so the inner workings, the chip, are showing) I was unable to take out the chip to expose the under-side weld to the antenna. I looked for screws, but there were none. I looked on Misbehavin' R/C's website, but there was nothing about taking out the chip in the antenna page. any help would be a savior.

I can't thank you guys enough for your help,

Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you,

uh i beleave it snaps off. I know i got it off before. Is the an are for a flat head to stick in?

yeah i mean the silicone chip

does 1 1/2 inches make a difference?

or should i buy a new one? if so which one?

LazyDave your posts are confusing. Please Read what you are about to post so it is clear to the other members.

Back to the topic... The Sirio 23 will fit in and they do supply a header for it.My experience with this engine was that the linkage was too short and the carb would not open full throttle. You will need to adjust your linkages and check your EPA if you have them. The Sirio makes excelent power. You can run the Maxx without upgrading the driveline just yet. I do agree that you make sure if your diffs are old I would check them and regrease them. Play with it and see what gearing suits you best. I ran mine with stock gearing but I just broke her in. I had Bowties and that baby was on her lid a lot!!! AMAZING POWER!!

new what?

new antenna, my antenna snapped at the reciever and I will lose 1 1/2 inches, does that make a difference in range? Or should I replace the antenna? In other words, i have all of the antenna, except 1 1/2 inches.
Hope this clears it up!
