Need an honest opinion here. I have been looking at the MGT and really like the looks and open design. I am thinking strongly about getting one. I do currently have a T-Maxx and really like it though it has been down more than running since I have gotten it. Lots of small things. Anyways, the only way I can get the MGT is to sell my Maxx. What do you think? Basicly I am asking if anyone would recommend the MGT over the Maxx?

the MGT is a nice rig....it seemed very plain to me though....I like real tight tracks and the maxx is the shorter wheel base that if you set it up right it is a beast on short track.....the MGT is right out of th ebox a better made truck IMO, but if you've already started modding your maxx I tell people just keep going w/ it till it's done.....set a precidence and finish your first RC project to the end.....it's always nice to whoop people's ass and then show em it's a T-maxx.....

Look at it this way. Does your LHS carry more parts for the Maxx, or the MGT? MGT looks more solid than the T-Maxx, but if you have to wait for parts for it then that could change if you want it or not.

If you're planning to trade up, I'd highly recommend a Savage. They can take a beating and drive away. I've been in your shoes along with many here, the maxx takes alot of work and money to make it tough.

I've mentioned this before, but take a look at the grey plastic parts for it. They're supposedly stronger than the black ones that came on the older maxxes (2.5 and pro .15) They're new and worth looking into. Remember plastic is much cheaper to replace the aluminum.

Yeah, I am still working on upgrading. Staying away from alum. so far and going with RPM as much as possible. I really like my Maxx as it is my first truck, so maybe I'll find a way to keep and get the MGT.

Nub, the MGT is a bigger, stronger truck, so not too easy to comparethem, although I agree with Plaind in that the Maxx is a better racer. Again, how about parts availability?

The MGT I think is the better truck. The diffs are sealed which provides more tuning options. The chassis layout makes wrenching easy compared to a savage. It also comes with a big block so you will not need to buy a 21 conversion as you would with a standard TMaxx. Drivetrain has CVA's all around so that is another plus. What did I not like about the truck? Lame Piggyback look shocks. Fake and lame. Replace em with something better like UE shocks or the proline powerstrokes. The Tires are not that great for loose dirt but I will admit the truck handling can be compared to a LST. IMO!

That is the biggest negative so far. I only have one LHS that I go to, there are two others that I could check to see if they carry stuff, but the one I DO go to does not or are very limited in what they might have.

If your Tmaxx has been down more than its been running, I think its a easy choice.

I wonder why the Tmaxx is down more than it's up running? We drive the snot out of my friends Tmaxx all the time and It's not down that much. The cool thing about the Tmaxx is there is tons of used parts for sale on ebay as well as tons of new parts all the time. I bought almost every plastic part for a Tmaxx for 40.00 bux once. It came with: skids, skid brace, ft/bk bulks, all the upper/lower arms and then some. If it was me I would just stay were you're at and trick it out. You don't have to go all out to have a nice truck I don't think. Just install some aluminum bulks, skids, dual slipper spur, and do a FOC on it. The rest of the stuff is pretty easy to replace when broken and want cost that much. Just my newbie :2cents:

MGT hands down, and its even easier with the new .28 in it. IMO its not even a comparable truck!

Being my first RC I have kinda grown an attachment to the ol'Maxx, so I think I'll keep it. The reason it has been down is the previous owner I think did not take care of it. I got it for free and have been fixing things as I find them. So far I have invested a couple bills in it and still have alittle more to go before it will be right, but I think it will be worth the $$$. I am still going to find a way for the MGT too.

I would go for the MGT.I like to have this truck and that truck, this car and that car.I like to try them all.

The MGT is a solid truck out of the box,not Savage tough but a solid truck overall.

Thats the nice thing about Maxx's. Since the revos came out, the prices for the parts and stuff have dropped dramtically. But in comparison to MGT, its mgt hands down. (if your bashing, Id suggest a Savage. I went from a Tmaxx to a savage and its the best rc investment I've ever done. I am 110% satisfied with my savage. Couldnt ask for a better truck)

The MGT is a better truck, hands down. It's stronger in every way. Has a STRONG drivetrain, transmission, arms, etc. The chassis is probably the strongest chassis on any MT.

The beauty of an MGT is, it can be run hard right out of the box. With the T-Maxx, you end up making a list of what needs to be replaced to keep it in one piece.

if i were to choose between a maxx and a mgt i would go mgt all the way ,since you had the maxx givien to you then keep it and save till you get the cash for the mgt if thats the route you want to take .
i have never driven 1 but i have had both the tmaxx and a savage thoe .and IMHO i would go savage if i where ot buy a new truck ,just an option for you to look into way better support for the savy and they are true bashers and can with stand just about anything thrown at them !!
