Hey guys. New to the forum, but not really new to nitro RC. Here's my situation. I bought a new T-Maxx today at the local hobby shop. Got a sweet deal on it. All aluminum Integy parts blah, blah blah. Well the guy at the shop said the motor that was on it was a big block of some sort. I couldn't remember the brand. He said that the Traxxas 3.3 that I have on my other T-Maxx would fit right on there. Okay, so I took his word.
Well I get home and tear into it. Long story short, there is no way it is going to just "bolt right up". My question is, does anyone know what type of mount or adapter I would need to get the 3.3 on there? It does not look like a stock T-Maxx chassis, or at least like my T-Maxx 2.5 chassis.

Here are some pictures to help.

Thats a dynamite Big Bock conversion chassis I have the same chassis on my big block rig. You would be better off getting yourself a 3.3 chassis or 2.5 chassis and switch everthing over. Or get yourself a big block engine and mount in that chassis.

Thanks for your help. Looks like I got myself a $150 paper weight until taxes come in. Thought the guy knew what he was talking about.

Would a big block motor be a worth while upgrade? Is there that much difference over the 3.3?

First off, the reason you got a good deal on it is because of the integy parts that are on it..
Why dont you just drill 4 holes and mount the 3.3?

Well I think I decided to sell my other T-Maxx to fund this one. What is the biggest (or recommended) motor I can put on this chassis? I found an HPI .28 big block for a good price? It's the one that comes on an HPI Savage X 4.6.

Yes those integy parts are really not that great. And yes you can drill the holes and mount that 3.3. I would not. You can pick up a Mach big red new off egay for like $150.00 shipped. And it would murder that 3.3 in power. If you drill the chassis plate better make sure you get the spur lined up and meshed will close if not you will rip up spurs like crazy. I have a big block conversion someone drilled to mount a 2.5 in, lets just say not so friendly with spurs. If it has alum arms and other alum upgrades it would perform much better with the big block.:D

Hmmm... I will look into that motor. Why do you say that Integy parts aren't that great? Break easily? I've heard of them before, but never bought anything from them. Have some RPM parts on my other T-Maxx though.

Integys warranty on parts is only good untill you open the package. They are made of cardboard then they spray paint them with chrome paint.:D

You can mount as big of an engine to that rig as they make as far as big blocks go. I would go with the Mach .28 big red. HPI engines are good but not the quality of Mach. Lrp is about the best you can go with though.

dude you didnt do bad,If you know how to mesh the spur gear.Put the mount on the engine, set the mesh mark the holes and drill them oblong.Done it a bunch of times,no proplems and if you screw it up you can always go back to the big block.Spend your money on new bulks and get rid of them integy your asking for trouble
