I just bought a used t maxx 3.3 last week was told it was running b4 it was put up. As soon as i got it i put a glow plug i had laying around in it to see if it would run to my suprise it did i couldn get all the power out of the 3.3 as i could have with the right plug but at least i know it runs. i ordered some 3232x plugs off ebay yesterday and I'm waiting on them to come in. But while i was running the truck around (ran a tank thru it) it seems like the cluth isnt engaging at the right time it sometimes revs pretty high b4 it starts going and the spur gear is spining i know there is a slipper clutch in the tranny and I'm figuring thats the problem. also the truck has reverse in it but it will sometimes engage sometimes wont sometimes have problems getting it back into forward. after this it was making a high pitch whinning noise i am planning on pulling the tranny and checking it all out and doing check up on the truck but I'm just wanting to get a lil input ahead of time

If your planing on pulling the trans, now is a good time to remove the reverse gears and do a forward only upgrade. I have not had one good reson to keep the reverse, and everyone will tell you the same. Reverse is and will always be the weak link in the trans. If you checked the slipper clutch and its fine, its probably the reverse giving you the problem. After removing reverse you will see a big difference in power from your rig. Go to a hobby shop and pick up the forward only kit it's about 12.00bucks i think, and not hard to install it. Also, look at the eng clutch and make sure its not binding on the pins, sometime rust and gunk prevents the clutch from working properly.

I pulled the motor yesterday and dissasembled it. it runs but idk for how much longer its deff seen its better days top of piston was black and there was a good bit of wear on the exhaust side of the piston but will still run for a while the clutch looked fine inside the bell no rust no oil or anything. i didnt have time to pull the tranny i plan on doing so today to check it out but i am going to take the advice on putting a forward only kit in it reverse really isnt a big deal to me sometimes is nice but if it robs power and causes problems i dont want it will be ordering a forward only today and checking my slipper also thanks for the input
