Hi.

I am a new member and just stumbled across your forum today so thought I register.

I'm in the UK and have just bought my first nitro rc car or rather truck. I got the T Maxx 3.3 and absolutely love it.

Already broken the rear centre drive shaft and after searching the net found the part numbers for the HPI dog bone and Revo cups. Worked a treat and at the same time learnt the LHS the mod too.

I have two pressing questions for you guys though (probably have more actually)

I tried to fit a Fastrax micro failsafe that didn't work. I'd hoped that this would kick in if my battery power dropped, and I wasn't sure if the std built in failsafe of the 2.4ghz system would do that? However today whilst working on it I noticed no real tension was on my throttle return spring. So, now after I have tensioned it, if I switch off the receiver whilst full throttle is applied, the throttle is pulled back closed.

Is this how it should be? If I were out using it and my battery pack failed. Would this act as a suitable failsafe?

Next up. I must of gone through 5 glow plugs in nearly a gallon. I know some were definately due to a bad tune. But it now runs perfectly well, but I continue to eat plugs. I'm thinking it MAYBE my EZ Starter. I have measured the voltage delivered to my glow plug via the wand at 3.36V. Isn't this too much? The truck is nearly a month old, it'll still be covered under warranty I believe if it is the wand that has become faulty.

Ok. Third quick one. Do you guys recommend fitting a fuel filter too?

Cheers

Rich

Edit to say. The model number at the top should of been 4907

It could be too lean, or you have a bearing coming apart in the engine. It's worth pulling the head off for a look, because traxxas may cover your engine.

The spring should pull your throttle servo back when you lose power or shut the power off.
The radio has a built-in failsafe designed to bring the servos back to neutral if you lose signal. Those two things are pretty much all you need, just keep in mind there's always a chance of a broken servo or linkage etc.

If you're going to add anything else your best bet is a low voltage cutoff, since other failsafes can interfere with the 2.4ghz system.

Thanks for the quick reply. Much appreciated.

If I pull the head off what exactly would I be looking for?

The failsafe I had fitted was supposed to go between my throttle and receiver, apply full brakes and at the same time press and hold the set button on the failsafe. This was supposed to set it. Instructions then said to switch power off from reciever pack and the failsafe should of applied the brakes. But it didn't? So all I can think of is it isn't compatible with my radio equipment?
