Replace the onboard 4 AA battery thing with a 5 cell rechargeable "hump pack" install a "failsafe"

Great truck, lots of fun. After ya break the bulkheads a couple times.....buy aluminum ones.

that was my first nitro,loved it.always been a max fan,got a 3.3 myself.

It is a great truck. I still drive that one however I put a 3.3 in it after I blew up the 2.5. I also put in the forward only conversion and a hump pack.

You got a NEW T Maxx2.5? was it that much cheaper than the 3.3.

Yeah, I have got the 2.5 (older version 4910) and it is a great truck. I have now got the 3.3 in it. You might want to set some money aside for upgrades, there are so many for these trucks!! First thing you should do though is change out the stock bulkheads for aluminum (once they break of course), the stock plastic IMO seemed to be a little bit to brittle and broke pretty easily. I went through 2 sets before I just went ahead and got some GH bulkheads and chassis braces. Other than that, just have fun until something breaks and then replace. The T maxx is fast and super tough, you will have fun.

new comer

The 2.5 was a little over a 100 dollars cheaper than the 3.3 and as a beginner I wanted reverse. And do you guys think aluminum its better than rpm?

The 2.5r is a great truck, its fast, will do wheelies, etc.. Like you said its got reverse which is pretty cool at times as well. I think RPM A-Arms all around is your best bet versus Aluminum, Stick with alum to your bulkheads and skidplates...

Yeah, I also think that RPM is great for plastic, dont go aluminum on your a arms. Its best to go aluminum down the middle and RPM on the corners (I havent gone there yet, but the a arms are going to be RPM when the stock ones break). I thought that reverse would be great too, but I now have the FOC in the trans, much more reliable, and no more lurching forward.

Have fun with your maxx

I want to thank everyone for all the input. I think I will go rpm on a arms and aluminum on other stuff. I will keep posting on all my time with my T-Maxx.

I have aluminum through out my emaxx and i have had no problems it is pretty heavy though... thats about the only draw back I think.... But yeah rpm is good quality too aint trash talking rpm at all so dont think that.

Yes hump pack and fail-safe are a huge bonus, fail-safe is almost a must. I have to say there are NO tougher A-arms than RPM other than $500 Flextec Titanium. They are BY FAR the best for you money hand down. Even GH who makes some damn tough stuff admits aluminum is not so great for A-arms. Alloy on the Maxx is good for bulkheads, Shock towers, diff cases, shocks, chassis braces and a few other structural parts. Anything else is just bling in my opinion. I have had 4 T/E-Maxx over the years and that is the best I can give ya on parts. Also when you get tired of the jumpy transmission, go forward only.

I havent had to many problems with the reverse and you are right aluminum all over is mostly for show but i have flipped mine repeatedly and they have held up better then I thought.. But you are correct on rpm stuff beiong awsome and I would love to be able to get titanium parts but i dont think i could get the old lady convinsed to let me spend that much..

i wouldnt go replacing anything yet, get it out, play with it and when something breaks (which it will) then upgrade it

yeah I agree I didnt upgrade anything till the 3rd or 4th fix.. course that was within first 2 weeks. "They can take licken and keap on ticken". I dont think I would trade any of my maxx's off for any other rig... nope def. not..

Thanks everyone I think this forum was prob the best thing I could have done for RCing lol

Also, afterwhile you find that your bumpers will look a little beat up or crack and fall apart. RPM makes really cool and realistic looking bumpers for the front and rear on the tmaxx. I bought a pair and never looked back. The front bumper has a lower bar to help protect the front skidplate was well.. oh yeah, their skidplates are awesome too. Down the road you really have to check out their products.
