Hi, after taking apart most of my Maxx for the forward-only conversion, and upgrading the stock brake set on it, I lost that brass-looking "brake piston".

http://www.buytraxxas.com/product_info.php?products_id=1563

It's the yellow thing in that picture, does anybody know how big it is exactly, I want to know if what I have isn't too big or too small (found a part laying around).

Something that is weird, the E-clip on my clutch bell was off for some reason. I don't know, because my brother took off the transmission while I was doing something, so possibly he bumped it off, but what if it is off? Will the transmission itself hold it in place, it's possible it could've fallen off a long time ago, isn't it? Will it really matter that much. I don't want the thing to come off a little bit then completely mutilate a gear or something, that would suck.

So I'm not really sure what to do, I don't really want to wait for another shipment, I had to wait long enough already to get the brake hop-up and the forward-only shaft. It would seem like a waste to buy a new brake caliper set just for that little metal nub, then I would have 3 brake caliper sets total, only one being used :)

Well you definitly want to replace that E-clip on your crankshaft. It's not a very good idea at all to run a nitro w/o the C/B secured. You're just asking for another repair job. As far as the brake piston. I'm not sure of the specific size of it but if you have a piece that is the same diameter as the hole then I would go ahead and try it out. If it's a rod you have, just cut it down so that the piston would stick out of the end of the opening by about 1mm or so w/ zero brake action.

One of the most important things to keep in mind in this hobby is that these nitro vehicles are not toys. It is very important that you treat them with care and make sure that they are in proper working order when you use them. You must be patient with them. I know it sucks to wait on a part in the mail but that's just part of it. I recently drove all the way to my LHS (35 minute drive) to purchase clutch bell shims because I didn't even have anything around to mod in order to get me by. But it's important that that CB not be moving around too much. If you are patient with your cars you will be rewarded with a reliable vehicle and you'll find that your repair costs will dwindle as well.

Well I'm still working on finding/making that alternate part, I was busy trying to modify one of the differentials to hold my brake disc on correctly, and I found an E-clip that should work good. Now all I have to do is find a brake piston, hopefully today.
