I just bought a used T-maxx 2.5 and am in the process of cleaning it up.

I removed the half shaft assembly when was in pretty rough shape, i am looking at the parts list for the t-maxx 2.5 and it says the half shaft part number is #4951x. And the shafts measure to be 78mm, both internal and external splined shafts.

But the internal splined shaft i took out from the old t-maxx measures 87mm, while the external splined shaft measures 78mm.

I am confused. I am not sure if the 87mm internal splined shaft that i took out was stock or was replaced by the previous owner. I looked online, and can't find any t-maxx internal splined shafts that measure 87mm.

Thanks for any input.

Are the 3.3 T-maxx half shafts a drop in replacement for the 2.5 half shafts? Or i need to replace some other parts as well?

It is a worth while upgrade.
They are almost drop~in, you need to reuse you trany side yoke's and put a washer under the E~clip's.

You also need to file the front of the chassis by the brake disk to clear the larger u~joint pins.

Thanks, that was very helpful.

Whats your opinion on CVD's for the T-maxx, i know a lot of people use them, i am just curious as to if its worth the upgrade for a basher.

For centers I'm runnin stock 3.3 center sliders like in the above pic.

I'm runnin Traxxas CVD's on my Maxx and stock 3.3 plastic shafts on my wife's 2.5 Maxx and they have held up well.

Both work well but you have to upgrade to the newer 3.3 carriers & toelinks to use the new plastic sliders or the Traxxas CVD's.

You can still find THS #THS310 CVD's (drop~in no modding needed)for the older style 2.5 driveline.
