Hey everyone. I just ran out of nitro fuel today and before I go buy more I have a question. For the whole life of my trucks engine I've been running 20% traxxas top fuel. Would it affect my engine in any way if I changed to a different brand of fuel but sticking with the 20% nitro ratio?

it should not matter ass long as it is 20%

there might be a little difference but not really

JUST MAKE SHURE U GET TRUCK /CAR FUEL lol

Ok thanks guys. I know hobby town has top fuel and this orange fuel. Dunno what the brand it but its about 5 or 6 bucks cheaper. I'll buy it when I go there next time
 
Stay away from the top fuel if you can, I think Byrons is orange (correct me if i'm wrong) so that may be what your hobby shop has.
 
well as far as traxxas goes i would stick with top fuel for warranty stuff and its good fuel i say stick with it for a couple extra bucks and worry free stay with top fuel but if you have your mind on switching keep it 20% and make sure its for the nitro car or truck
 
It's common knowledge that traxxas fuel is too oily, which is harder on an engine. If your gonna post, better back them up with some facts. We already determined you have no experience. Bad information isn't looked upon very kindly around here.
 
I found that top fuel is real oily when the o ring on the header to my rd logics rear pipe ripped somehow and that oil from the burnt fuel went all over my chassis, braces, bulkheads, and right rear a arms. I'm gonna have fun cleanig that tomorrow. (and I know the rear pipes r crap)
 
It's fine to run whatever fuel and nitro you want. 30% nitro usually requires a richer setting then 20% and vice Versa. You just have to tune accordingly and the engine will run. As long as you are using high performance fuels and lubes, really, what difference does it make? if your tune is good you should be no where near the limits of the lubrication. I'm sure traxxas makes a killing on fuel with that warranty program, if they didn't offer it...... You can't go wrong with a good quality fuel, spend the couple extra bucks, best insurance you have.

Well I'm goin to my lhs to get fuel soon. I found out that they have trinity fuel so I'm gonna get 20% trinity nitro
 
Well I got the 20% trinity nitro fuel (pretty purple color lol :P) I finally had a chance to take my truck out today. I fired it up with the trinity fuel and let it idle for a few minutes cuz it was below 30 degrees outside. I drove it around for a bit and it ran like crap. My idle was really high for some reason but I think it was my linkage and whenever I have my rd logics rear pipe on my idle goes up. So I fixed my linkage and put the stock pipe on and ran it for awhile. I played with the needles and I got it to run really well. I think it was actually running better that it did with top fuel. I got pissed though cuz I went to clean my air filter after running it for awhile and when I got back to start my truck it wouldn't start up again. When I spun the starter motor it wouldn't engage and turn the engine over. Would this be cuz my one way is all gummed up? It sounded like my starter motor was spinning freely
 
Yup it's most likely the one way. Just clean it with nitro cleaner or da then a little drop of oil and you're good to go. Make sure you have a small teflon washer between it and the motor too, it helps to sling the fuel away from the bearing. I'm not sure what size it is but it's the same as the one on your clutch.
