Is it a good idea to switch fuel with the 2.5 or should I use the same fuel I did as break-in. I was thinkn' of getting o' donnel or Trunity fuel. Thanks.
 
I run trinity monster in everything havent had anyproblem other than the crappy tuning of the pro 15 but rest of my engines run well on it ..i did add some klotz oil to it to bring oil % up and motors ran much better
 
So switching from Top-Fuel so another won't hurt?
 
you might want to rerichen it up for 1-2 tanks then lean it back out
 
No you can change man you will have to retweak the tuning. I know guys that have ran 6 or 7 gallons through an engine and they ran 3 diffrent types of fuel a coupel gallons odonnell a gallon trx so on.. Its cool also rob was talking about the oil. Trinity is made by wildcat who uses the best oil out there. That is why they have a lower oil content than some others. 12% oil in that will be as good as a 16% TRX which is made by powermaster a lot cheaper fuel...X
 
I'm think either Trinty Monster or O donnel I have used both in the pro but didn't no if the 2.5 was different.
 
No the 2.5 is like any other engine it will run on what ever you put in it.. I recommend running atleast 20% nitro in it though. Also I bet you get a better idle once you switch because those are both better qaulity fuels imo....X
 
you really only need to worry about it if you change the percentage of nitro.

OK I have always heard this and was wondering what the consequences are if you start switching around different percentages, like 20 then 30 then 25 and so on. I have always stuck with the same pertcentage nitro from break in on but have met people that just switch around to see which they like best. My 2.5 and my associated both started on Traxxas Top Fuel 20% and then I switched to O'donnel 20% and because I found it for almost $10 cheaper a gallon than the o'donnel I have just started running sidewinder 20%. The reason I ask this is because my new buggy will be here tomorrow and it has been run on 30% but I can't justify going and buying a gallon of 30% just for that so I was thinking about running my 20 in it for a while untill I get a new motor then just going with 20 from then on out. Also am I correct in saying that a motor will run better on higher percentages of nitro but will run hotter? I ask that because my buddy and I went out racing this weekend and his dad came along with his old nitro hawk and some unknown motor in it and he was running 40% because that is what he always ran and that lil bastard ran like a scalded dog!

??huh?? The whole point of breaking in a motor is to "wear in" the roatating assembly( the piston and sleeve). So why would changing percentages require new break in? This is what I'm saying, everyone says not to do it but no one has a good reason why not to.

This is what I have always heard too. Maybe someone who is smart can enlighten us on this issue.
 
I'm pretty sure that once you break in the engine you dont need to do it again but...it helps to run the truck easy on the first couple of tanks...no drag racing!
