Hey all,

My Swift II is driving me nuts, some help would be awesome. Firstly i am a complete novice with these toys and for that matter with any engine orientated thing...:-)

Ok, so it just wont start, the adjustable screw near the carb came out after many efffort at get the rich/ lean mixture just right. I put it back. There are bubbles in the fuel line and fuel coming through the exhaust pipe. The only way to start it is to pour fuel straight into the carb. It starts and then obviously dies. There is clearly a fuel supply problem, i have read as many posts as i can with no luck. I have check the tank and pipes for seals and cracks etc, nothing. Just can't seem to get fuel flowing properly, i have closed the muffler tip with my finger and got the fuel to the carb but even then she wont start.

I am sure i am just stupid but if anybody could help i would really appreciate it.

thanks
ps. there is a lot of reference to two adjustable screws on these cars, i only see one...where is the other:surrender

Have a look at this diagram. I had a Swift II and never had any running issues.

I assume its an SH .21? (stock engine)

Its not uncommon to see bubbles running through the fuel line.

From what you state it may need a new glow plug (also make sure the glow stick is charged). You also state fuel is coming out the exhaust, thats because the fuel is going through the engine, and as its not starting up, the fuel is exiting through the exhaust, so you know the fuel is getting through.

Hope this is of some use

Thanks dude, that helped a stack!!! she started and is running, now the next glitch is that when i accelerate it dies.....rich / lean problem?

Thanks again Dave!

Could be too rich or to lean. Is there still loads of unburnt fuel exiting the exhaust?. if so turn the high speed needle about 2 hours (imagine the slot in the HSN is an hour hand) in (clockwise) then give her a run.

Look for the smoke trail. you want to see a nice trail all the way from accelaration right through to WOT (whole of throttle)

Keep at it mate.

Dave

Have a look at this tuning video, it may help
