swapping

is it possible to swap the Velineon VXL-3 esc and the 3500 motor off the traxxas Stampede vxl to the mamba motor and the esc? If possible I'm going to do it but i wanted to make sure i dont wast the money for no reason

Yes you can, you can throw just about any ESC and motor set up you want on any vehicle depending on you fabricating skills. People use the Mambas on their Rustlers all the time.

Are you talking about the Mamba Monster or the Mamba Maxx? The Maxx is a direct drop in no issues or problems. Un-plug and re-plug. I like the Mamba Max for the USB port it had in the side... I could program everything I would want on that ESC. It was good stuff. Stay away from the 7700KvA motor though, not good for off road. On-road it's great but my RC10T4 just overheated it all the time.
