Someone hacked into my ebay account (ericg233) even though i am positive i didn't click any of that fake email crap and tried to sell stuff, but ebay cancled their auctions. Now they are making me take all these tests and asking to CALL me to see if I am the right person. I think this is BS. I changed my password and email, that should be enough. After all, it IS my account and has been for 3 years.

And when i try to make a new name, i check to see if the name is already used and it says "available" so i fill out the whole f*cking survey, and then it tells me "this account is already registered....."

wow

WOW, did you ever leave your account logged on and someone you know may have done it? Are you on a Wireless network?

Nope, the only time they go on the computer, i am with them. Yes i am on a wireless network.

Do you use Auction Sniper?

Not sure how EBAY works, but can they track the IP that it was done from?

They do have your ebay password. I am betting they are nowhere near as secure as ebay.

Whenever I use auction sniper, I change my ebay password temporarily so they can snipe bid for me. After it has been done, I change the password back.

Wow Is that how it works???
You have to give your password out...No way in hell would I ever do that.
Glad I never used it.

Thats a good idea. Well, its fixed now and no damage was done, just confirming my identity is annoying.

Nice call Robmob, i will reconsider not using auction sniper.

3,000th post hehe

that happened to my pops like 3 time someone was using his account to sell expensive items....they always cancell all the auctions they catch it real fast...you should be ok

Is this something that you use on EBAY? Is it affiliated with them? I always sell stuff normally or bid normally.

Buggyracer28 your password was probably a plain text pass unless you were unfortunate enough to fall prey to a phishing email.

My sister's account was hacked five days after her first signup. Her pass was something like "starr28." Needless to say this only served to confirm her paranoia and conspiracy theories about doing transactions online.

Most hacked accounts on eBay or payPal are one of two things, brute force dictionary attacks in which they throw thousands of plain text words at an account until one goes through, or they snagged you by phishing. If you're complaining about their verification process be thankful instead - even with all that they still managed to hack your account, didn't they?
