hey guys, i love my XTM 24.7 engine now. but i hate the wheelies now. i always thought that the wheelies were so kool, but now that my mill does them everytime that i just barely get on the gas it bugs the hell out of me. i am running a 20t clutch bell with a 72t spur gear. i was wondering if going to a higher clutch bell gear would help me out or what. any suggestions would be of great help.

Running a higher clutch bell lower spur will do it. You also benifit from a higher top speed.

Gets kinda hard to steer with the wheels in the air, doesn't it? I thought they were cool at first but it does get tough to handle. You can also loosen your slipper just a bit. That may help bleed off some of the torque. Just don't get it too loose or you'll melt the spur...

alright i will try that too. heck ya it is hard to steer. the wheel are in the air orver 70% of the time that i drive my truck. it is really starting to piss me off. and then some times when i get on the throttle to much it just flips over back wards. then it messes my heat sink and body post up!!

You could also adjust the suspension to help take some of the wheelie out. There are many schools of thought on just what to do about the suspension. My school has kept the wheelies away since I adjusted my suspension.

That method is to stiffen up the rear suspension and soften the front. Others would say to do just the opposite. If you want more details on the why? Just ask...or search the site, as this question has been asked and answered several times...but not nearly as often as on the TRAXXAS site.:D

lol alright i will search and look into that.
thankz guys

I totally agree about the heavier rear suspension to take out the wheelies. I run a heavy all around suspension for jumping and I don't get bothered with wheelies.

alright then, i will try that. hey el pirata your back!

I am in the camp of stiffening your rear for better wheelies.

I have an E-Maxx wheelie truck for my kids, and the stiff rear suspension is what I think works for wheelies. I've talked to several hundred people that bought my wheelie bars, and each one does something different. There are alot of variables here, such as aluminum hop-up wieght, tires, and gearing.

Best thing to do is try out different settings. No-one can tell whats best for your particular truck.

yeah, i have the regular lenght rpm a-arms that i have had for ever and now i am getting the UE supermaxx widetrack suspension. and i have trinity heavy blue springs now with 70 shock oil in them. i am wanting to go to the heavy heavy heavy black shock springs tho because i am going to do a bite of racing but mostly off of the local bmx track.

Lower it to the lowest shock settings and stiffen up the rear springs,.....has worked for me.

it is at the lowest right now but i will have that fixed in another couple weeks.

SuperMax,

You may find this regarding gear ratio's in our TechInfo page helpful!

i put a 14 tooth bell on mine to give it better climbin power and i tap the gas and it flips!

lol, i got a 20 on mine and i am going to get a 23 because it still has way too much for racing.
