Hi - we new to the nitro world. Although having a blast with our trucks so far!!! (we've only been doing this for a couple of months and have already aquired a large collection of replacement parts.) I was hoping someone would be able to help with a problem. We've replaced the reverse input/output gear twice. We're thinking that this is probably not a normal thing to have to do. Does anyone have any input to any adjustments that we might make or any tips to help keep this from happening. Not that we haven't had a lot of fun disassembling and reassembling the entire transmission a couple of times so far. Would appreciate any insight anyone has to offer!!!

Thanks

Remove it and be done with it. The foc (forward only conversion) will drastically improve take off, and remove a ton of rotational mass from the tranny. As well as one less servo. It was one of the best mods I have done to my maxx and it only costs around 12 bucks.

:stupid: On this one. FOC is the only way to go.

If think you must keep reverse, You may want to try shimming the shaft that it rides on.

To do this you will place a super thin washer on the shaft next to the bearings on either or both sides to remove the back and forth play. You will want a little movement but not much.

Its not that easy to blow the gear. Have you thought about coming to a full stop before shifting? :D

Is this the older or new Maxx with the opti-drive? Traxxas clais that reverse works much better with the opti-drive. I had the Revo 3.3 and it never failed on me. I also had it for only a few months... BUT it still worked great.

What they said.......
My question too you is.....Who is we?..is there more then one of you?:help:

We have the new 3.3 T-Maxx and also the new 3.3 Revo. Both have the opti-drive systems and we are only having this problem with the T-Maxx. Yes we are coming to complete stops when using reverse....we would like to keep reverse seeing as chasing after it a football field length or so away when it gets stuck gets a bit tiring. (we're working on trying not to get stuck up against trees or in bushes and other such obstacles that seem to always want to jump in your way when doing some awesome off-roading). Will try the washer solution and let ya know how that works. Super thanks for the input.

So glad I came across this site. As we're new to the whole nitro off road truck thing this seems like a super awesome resource.

Are you in Louisiana or Cali Or is it jut a name??

and in reply to the who is we....yes we are two. My husband and I that is. We started out with our T-Maxx 3.3 a couple of months ago and quickly came to realize that we both liked it so much we needed another one. So we went and got the new Revo 3.3. Although in hindsight it may have been a better financial decision to get another T-Maxx. (those darn replacement parts.....if only those trees would stop moving into the path of our truck...ha ha ha) we almost wish we'd kept all our broken parts.....just to get a real feel for what we've had to replace. I do have to say that we learned real quick to keep certain parts on hand and at the ready so we can make repairs on the fly. Last weekend our poor T-Maxx took a good bashing and we ended up replacing upper and lower control arms, and having to rebuild both shocks on the drivers rear. Tons of fun though!!!

That is awesome my wife and I plan on running the savages together.

I just need to move my butt and get the ramp finished!!

As you will learn with time. It would have been a better financial decision to get rid of the T-Maxx and get 2 Revo's.

The Revo is light years more durable that the T-Maxx.

BTW, welcome to RCNT. You will find tons of information here and feel free to ask questions. Chances are, someone here will have an answer.
