So I was having a bit of a bash in my back yard today and thought hey I wonder if I can do a back flip against the shed, first time perfect front wheels climbed and rear wheels pushed and back flip ensued second time everything went bad... Landed on RH rear wheel. Instastrip! So I swapped front with back and ran 2wd for the last of the tank. Managed to strip the wheel hex and rim.

Would upgrading to alloy hex's help prevent things like this in the future and am I better off changing from 14mm to 17mm hex's?

The 17 mm revo/emaxx hubs are a reliable and easy upgrade - 5353X. You will need new wheels tho.

Option 2 is to grab the traxxas 14 aluminum wheel hubs - 4954X. Not as good but cheaper.

the trx 14mm hubs aren't the best and will still strip with the optional aluminium ones. upgrading to the 17mm ones is best but fro now keep an eye on your wheel nuts as they tend to slack off a bit causing them to strip.
for a get you through cheat, glue your wheel hex into the wheel , I usually use anything available ,let it dry and use that wheel on the front should last you a while.
