I was just wondering what everyone does with their wheels/tires after they strip the hub hex? Anyone go through the trouble to remove the tires and mount on new wheels? Or do you just prefer to get a completely new set?

Anyone want to extend the use of the stock wheels after they've been stripped? I've got a fix for it that I am testing now and would like to know if there would be enough interest to market it. I only have stock S-25 wheels to work on now but could probably come up with similar fixes for other wheels if there is enough interest.

Anyone have some stripped wheels they would want to get rid of? Would prefer with tires still mounted so I could easily test them and of course they would need to be cheap!

Let me know your thoughts and opinions, Thanks!

One fix that is pretty popular is to super glue or JB weld the hex inside the rim. If your idea is something other than that...kudos to you! Good luck with your idea man.

I stripped one out a while ago, Nitrobuzzard sent me some new hexes and I just superglued a new hex into the stripped wheel, and I just spent the day at the sand pit with no problems.

Wait.. I'm confused. You can super glue the stripped wheel to your hex. Then how do you get the wheel off without damaging the fix?

I take it you have to just keep them in there then. Its just so that they are still usable.

You glue the hex to the wheel. That means you can necer get the wheel apart from the hex, but you can easily take the wheel and hex off the truck together, leaving jsut the pin on the truck. Works kinda like the wheels on my RC18MT. Its actually pretty convenient.

Unless you have those hexes that are called "keepers", that have the o-ring around them. If you glue your rim to those, you'll never get them off the truck.

Yeah, I tried the JB Weld and Epoxy. They last for a while especially when running in loose dirt, sand and gravel. But with a locker rear end on asphalt and hard surfaces where the tires grip, it doesn't take too long to strip them again.
What I have done is made some custom hubs. It requires some trimming on the wheel before installing, but once completed they won't strip. One of 2 things will happen before they strip, either the wheels will break or you will completely wear out the tires and wheels.
The ones I am testing are cnc machined aluminum, but I am thinking they would be too expensive to sell as a fix for used wheels. What I am considering is an injection molded fiber reinforced plastic hub. Wouldn't it be worth $4-$5 for a set with instructions on fitting and using them? I've already got a couple of guys I race with wanting me to make some for them which is what led me to post this question here. Would anyone else consider this as a viable option?
