Whats the best way to remove a stripped screw? The 2 screws which go through the front skid plate and into the steering assembly are stuck. They aren't completely stripped yet, but if I keep hacking away at them they will be. I've used everything from my corless drill on low speed/high torque to my hands and they don't budge. Last time I replaced them I used green loctite; that's never been a problem before but maybe its too much...

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

that happened to me. what i did was titen the ones that go on top of the steering assembly all the way and then try to take out the bottom. or if you take out the long post thing thats in the steering assembly that the screws go into you can hold that with plyers and try to take out the screws. let me know if you dont really understand what I'm sayin ill try to be more clear.

I had to use a Dremel tool with the circular cutter. engrave a slit onto the head of the screw and use a big flat head screwdriver. You will have to cut into the skid plate a bit. Dremmel makes a small circular screw cutting tool which works good. Just one way, sure there are better ways.

GREEN LOCKTITE 8-0 That's permanent, made to not come out again, you should have used blue. Its going to be extremely tough if not impossible to get them out. You might have to sacrafice the steering assembly, you could always go with the MP servo saver mod.

actually the reason I was taking it apart was to do the MP Servo Saver mod...thanks for the suggestions!

Get a soldering iron with a big tip and heat the snot out of the screw heads. It may be enough to let the loctite release.

Green locktite is supposed to be forever. The only way that might work for getting them out is to use a drill or dremel an completely remove the head and once everything is disassembled put the remaining portion of the screw into a vise and lock it down well and muscle that out.

Yep.......Had a seminar from Permatex a few months ago and they said heat can release most loctite stuff.

Hmmm.......But In some cases it may be difficult to heat parts in our situations. So......

Try tapping the screw with a hammer, using a center punch.....And try not to mess up the slots so you can get a screwdriver in there to remove the screw. In most cases the shock will shatter the loc-tite so the screw wil come out.

OH Green loc tite. Why on the bottle does it say medium strength. That's what I want to know. I have been in your situation more than once. Good luck. I used a drill a couple of times and just drilled it out. I also heated them up in the oven for a few minutes and that worked too. Not very well Imight add.
