I traded for a mamba monster, just realized that the screw is stripped on the pinion, it's doesn't have a hole, it looks like it was for a flathead screwdriver . What would the best way to get this out with out tearing the motor up?

i would try and make a cut in it with a rotary tool with a the smallest cutting wheel ...or maybe you could get it out with a good set of locking pliers ..looks like the screw sticks out enough for that

When you say cut it,you mean cut the whole pinion in half, or just a slit on the screw so I can use a flat head ?

you could try that or get a new pinion as a last resort ...but I'm pretty sure it will work like i said ..you have enough of the screw out to be able to do something with it

Well I would do like Macguyver said and cut down as little as you can to get it out but if needed I would sacrifice the pinion before I did the motor. Eventually you would get it off. I would tape up the holes on the motro to prevent any stray metal filings from the wheel geting in there though.

Would heating it up help at all?

No! Heat makes metal expand. Do not heat it up, when you heat metal up and let it cool down it will make it even harder which will make it harder to cut through to make a notch in it for a screwdriver. The above mentioned way is your best be. In all honesty I really think you could get a locking needle nose pliers on that to take it out. I've done it with broken taps with a lot less room then that to work with, and taps are somewhat brittle when broken.

it might help ..if there was some sort of thread lock on it ...heating it will help break the bond

That's all heat will help with.

Yeah I cut a slit in it, it wouldn't come loose, so I took a grill lighter an got it hot an it was real easy to turn after that, now I have other problems With the motor

What did you trade it for? Sounds like it was too good to be true unfortunately. Did you test the system before trading?

Sent from my Pipboy-3000 in the Capital Wasteland.

I traded a rustler vxl for a Revo e-conversion, yeah I drove it around but the guy only had a 2s lipo on it lol
