I just got my Savage 25 this week and it's an awesome truck. I was running it today and to my suprise during the second tank I stripped the gear big time. I know how to change it but my question is - Is there anything I should be looking at to determine why it stripped? I gave it a quick once over at the track and everything seemed tight. Thanks

Assuming you're meaning the spur gear (the big gear on the outside of the transmission), it's probably due to the clutch bell being too far away from it. Here's a post that talks about good alignment between the clutchbell and the spur gear.

You take care of this by moving the engine over just a scoche by loosening the screws that hold the frame the engine is attached to. You don't want the two gears to be too tight tho, that will cause a lot of excess load on your engine (and more heat as well). When the spacing between the gears is good, don't forget the locktite on the screws and torque them good.

If that doesn't help, give more details and you'll get more help than you'll know what to do with.

yeah if it is the spur gear just get a RRP metal spur gear...

powerful engine with a metal clutch bell and plastic spur gear won't cut it for a long time

It is the spur gear, sorry for not mentioning that. I will look at it more closely and when I pick up another gear tomorrow I will use the advice given, thanks
