I'm pretty sure I stripped my front differential on my 2.5 tmaxx. It is only 2wd right now but the drive shafts turn. And the drive shafts on the wheels turn when I spin the wheels by hand but the other wheel doesn't turn when I turn one. What do I need to do? http://www.traxxas.com/support/kb_search.php?action=artikel&cat=34&id=165

Or do I need a whole new differential?

Anybody that has had a stripped diffy, I need you now.

re build it new gears if they are striped new bearings and case if they have any probles thats all you can do or buy a new one.

It really easy to dissasemble the T-Maxx and get to the diffs. Have you ever chaned your bulkheads or A-Arms?

I changed a bulkhead. I had to completly remove the shock tower. Now my car when I push it, it makes a grinding noise. I can't figure out if it is the tranny or the diffy. It is rather hard to roll and I keep stripping spur gears. I have them meshed right Cuz I use the paper method. I have a good tune but once it is set right, I ALWAYS strip a spur.

I find that when I use the paper method they come out real close together, when I just use my eyes and the way it feels, I haven't stripped one yet. Are you using loc-tite on your engine bolts? You could disconnect teh drive shaft and then roll it, and if it still does it you will know it's not the tranny.

Thats just the thing, They seem rather far apart after it has been strapped down and I do use loctite. How do I disconnect the drive shaft?

there should be a little pin screw holding the driveshafts in place. just turn them till you see the pin screws and take them out and the driveshafts will slip out of the transmission

i also set my mesh by eye and feel. with my revo its hard to move the motor when the screw is loosened. i dont know if its the same with the maxx. but i have to pry it with a screwdriver to get it to move. so the paper method definetly wont move it to where it needs to be.

With my maxx its actually really easy to move so it works rather well. There is a driveterain problem and its binding somewhere. Thats why I striped a spur.

Yes id does. I figured I would try taking the shaft appart and sadly the diffy is perfectly fine. That means it is in the tranny. It does it the worst when I try to shift. Could it be the reverse?

If its the tranny take it out and put a forward only conversion in it, its actully prety easy and gets rid of alot of rotating mass....

See, you should have bought that tranny last week, and you would already be back running strong. All I can say is, KARMA!

Well the guy at my lhs said to bring it in when I called so I think I will take it in. Also I think I will go with the FOC thanks abad.
