last week i put some brand new RPM monster claws wheels and pro-line maxx mulchers on my savage. very pleased with the combo...lighter than the stockers and have awesome grip everywhere. well today i took them out for there real first bash session at the bmx track, and while doing my after-run maintinence i noticed the area around the locknuts the "chrome" has started to show stress cracks or lines were the finish has been severly flexed. is this normal? or is one of my wheels going to go flying off soon after my next big air session? anyone else have experience with RPM monster claws?

From what I know it is normal. The chrome the wheels are usually covering with isnt the strongest substance and comes off very easily.

thx for the assurance. yes the chrome on the wheels flakes off easily on the edges..just wanted to make sure the center wasn't flexing more than normal.

LOL...your worry isn't unfounded. I have a set of Monster Claw rims that has most of the chrome flaked off, but also have the rear set where the center hub is all cracked up. Guess what, the suckers still run great. When I finally do crack that hub out, I'll send it back to RPM and ask for my replacement. But I figure it might take a while as the wheels have been that way for almost a year.

crap haha i forgot all about rpms's warrenty...feel even more assured now...oh yeah i also got some of the same wheels but in blue chrome and with the new ofna MT spikes for the
t-maxx at the same time....but they arent showing any sighn of stress yet. those ofna mt spikes are nice tires...probably some of the lowest profile tires on the market other than 40 series. nice and light too.

one more thing you might want to do is add a #10 washer behind the wheel nut. I have done this to mine and nearly two years later they are still great, except for the chrome though, its all gone around the centers. Might be time to break out the easy off and make em white.
