Storm pro engine mounts

Just got a GS Storm Pro... it has the stock pro mounts. A couple of questions regarding engine mounts and flywheels

1) Will only bumpstart engines work?

2) If only bumpstart engines work... will any flywheel fit? I'm afraid of the flywheel scraping the chassis due to the mounts seating the engine lower. I've looked on alot of websites but they dont note the diameters of the flywheels. I need one that is bump-able but small enough not to rub.... suggestions

3) what kind of setup are the rest of you storm pro owners using?

We're talking a Storm Pro right? As in, no engine came with it? Well what engine did you drop in? The flywheel should hang over that litle hole in the chassis and should not scrape. Most .21 flywheels are swapable. If I'm not mistake(and correct me if I'm wrong guys) you can use a bump start on any engine even if its pullstart, roto, etc. Hope this helps ya out some what man.

eh heh... I'm about to drop a RB s7II into it and i was just a little confused because I found out that the pro mounts were lower than the RTR ones. On top of that, I found out that there were different flywheel diameters (34mm and 38mm) I just wanted that cleared up. I'm guessing that like the Mugen mounts... the pro mounts can't accept pullstarts right?

For what it's worth, here is the data on mine.

Storm chassis (hardcore Ti) flywheel opening: 1 5/16" wide
stock RTR GS .21 flywheel: Diameter - 1.5", circumference - 4.71"
RB engine sitting on stock RTR GS mounts

I use the AE starter box and things line up just fine.

thanks alot! hmm... the original mounts and the original flywheel.... gotcha... the original flywheel as i understand is larger because the RTR mounts are higher to accomodate a pullstart.

hows the AE box working out for you? its just a carbon copy of the ofna multistart isnt it? cept it has the motor sticking out the side.

The AE box is OK. It takes stick packs and that was the main reason I got it since I had some stick packs already. If I had to do it over again I would get something a little nicer. Something that has a bigger, more torquey motor. Don't get me wrong, there are other boxes out there that are junk. This one, I think, is middle of the road. The AE one I have came set up for a side mounted engine and had to be completely taken apart and re-configured to accept the way the buggy is.

I think the pro mounts might hold a pull start okay. I don't think they are that much shorter.

Looking at the B01, with it's bulky pull start, the pull start box itself doesn't hang any lower then the rest of the body of the engine. I'm fairly sure you could mount up a B01 in the pro mounts.

I'm actually looking for a new set of mounts for my new engine so I don't have to swap out the ones on the B01, and I am just not sure what ones will work. The Pro ones (and even the rtr ones) are near impossible to find right now. Any idea if another brand mounts will fit?

Anyways, I have a fioroni sliding clutch on my B01 at the moment and the flywheel is quite a bit smaller then the stock one, but I still have no trouble getting the starter box wheel in there.

I think you'll be fine with the RTR mounts.

I actually have the pro mounts myself. It is recent knowledge to me that some motor mounts dont accomodate for PS engines (ie MBX5) thats why I wanted to check it out. Its reassuring to know that i can bump a smaller flywheel. Thanks for all the help guys. Dont know what I would do without this board and its members.
