Has anyone had much experience with this engine?

I have a savage .21 it's more than enoughb power for me and the boys just bashing about.

I am considering the XTM 24.7 pro, but here's the deal. The stock .21 has plenty of power for us. I don't really want to be replacing parts all the time, because well, it's a hobby and I really don't want to get into constant maintainence like I did with the T-maxx.

Anywas what's your experience with the Storm engione. Will it have enough torque to pull around the savage 21? all I want is about the same power as the stock .21. Will that do it?

I can pick 'em up for $50 and if I am going to buy one I'll probably buy three, that way I always have a backup engine.. one runs crappy, just pull it toss in another and trouble shoot the other when I'm bvored. Sounds like nice cheap way to keep my nitro running.. So what's your ideas and opinoins/experience with this guy..does that sound like a decent idea?

I would try it out. I owed 2 of those engines and they were suprisingly powerfull and worked really well. Held a tune and stayed running. Is the engine new for $50? I would veture to say after driving a stock HPI .21 vs drving a buggy with the B01 in it that the B01 is more powerful. It is comparing apples and oranges because I didn't drive both engines in the MT but if you go by manufactuere posted specs the B01 has more power.

If you keep your eye out you can pick up a brand new B01 pulled from the storm for around $50-55 the top they go for is $85.

By your experience they seem to be a decent engine. I was really wanting to make sure that they weren't like the megatech .15 lol.

I think payday I'll pick up one or two..

How is the aircleaner? does it need to be replaced?

The air filer stock is restrictive with it's rain/mud guard. I cut mine off but if done wrong can leave the possibility to suck some dirt in, I would pick up a different filter like the K or the Mugen one. The one thing I don't skimp on is my engine filtration but from your pictures of your ditch experience I can see it's not the top priority to you lol!:radio:

The B01 is a good engine for the money. I think it's a beginner engine, not that that's bad. You seem to have a good plan on keeping things running for a little money and the B01 will definately help you in that area.

Right on, I think I am going to go for it. I'll pick up two, and possibly port one if it isn't already done decent from the factory. Subtle mods no agressive porting here.

I'm all for good filtration, my maxxes have motor savers.. this Savage is only about 4 days old to me, and the LHS only sells Mccoy one piece filters... BTW are they any good? for $8 i am wondering if the McCoy's are better than stock..

BTW I've seen how easy it is to spend loads of $$ a few bucks at a time in this hobby.. it adds up so damned quick..So i decided from now on it's as little as wrenching/upgrading as possible and more time bashing with the kids.

I own the .25 version, it holds it's tune and it is enough power for my sut.

I've heard the .25 that comes in the GS SUT is identical to a xtm 24.7, just has a different headsink, and i have also heard that the .21 B01 that comes in the storm is made by SH engines..who also makes the xtm 24.7. if the BO1's do come from SH engines theyll be reliable, powerful engines, as i own 4 engines from SH
(three xtm 24.7's, one xtm .18) and am pleased with all of them.

you put the .18in an on road car correct? how did it do?

actually its been converted over to MT-2 stadium truck suspension and wheels. definately makes the truck move out with that 2-speed. i thought i would have a problem with too tall gearing as i could only find one tooth smaller bell pinions, and stadium truck tires are much taller than on-road tires. but the .18 does the job easily.
