Hi i have a storm fitted with the standard rtr engine which has had 3.5 gallons of 25% put through it and is becomeing tired now. I have been offered a hyper .21 8port as an upgrade . I dont race i just bash with friends and would much appreciate any opinions , as to weather or not its worth while in terms of how much better the 8 port is

Bashing or racing, I think they Hyper 8 port is a fairly low quality engine. I have never personally owned one, but I know several people that have, and they don't last. There's bound to be exceptions either way but out of the seven new Hyper 7's at the track this year, none of them still have the Hyper 8 port engine.

Do they not have the 8 port because they race, and want more power, or becaus the blew up. I think both are good engines if you tune and maintain them like you should. I have never owned either, but I know people that do. The B01 lasted 8+ gallons, and still runs you just have to get deeper in the thottle to get any power out of it. I know of two Hyper 8 ports. one is new, and replaced the B01, and the other came on a Hyper 7. It has lasted an est. of 4-5 gallons, and is still going strong. For the money, and as only a basher I would say both are a good choice with the 8 port having a little more power.
