I rigged up the stock throttle return spring as per the instructions. I hooked one end on the slide, wrapped the spring around the air filter base, and then hooked the other end to the high side needle. This setup is a joke. It prevents the carb from going WOT because the return spring is stronger than the servo saver! I get a wide-open carb without the spring, but put the spring on and the servo saver just stops the linkage from going any more than ¾.
The ironic part of all this is even with the spring installed as above the spring is not strong enough to close the throttle if the receiver battery goes dead. For example; I go WOT, turn off the receiver switch, and the spring does not have enough pull to close the throttle (and spin the servo back). The throttle stays about ¾ open.
It seems to me that this spring is useless I was thinking about trying this:
