Ok guys, I finnaly got my needle settings all correct, they where really wacky when I got my truck. My temps are running at a cool 240 even after you dog on it for awhile. The truck is still not shifting yet and its starting to bug me. I have it tuned just right and its really getting into the high high rpms in that gear

First of I want to make sure that you should be able to hear it shift. I know my last 2 speed you can deffently hear shift.

That stated if I should def hear it shift, and its not, how do I get to that set screw to adjust it. is there some secret to gettting the little screw to show through that hole? I can't get to it to move it, and thats my main problem

Oh BTW one more thing I took my savage out bashing for the first time yesterday! I am hooked I love MT's the onyl bad event of the day was a busted gas tank due to the shock screw, so I turned the screw around and ducked taped the tank untill my LHS gets that new tank
 
1.) Yes you are suppose to hear it shift

2.) Here is the page on adjusting 2 speed. Page 17 in your manual http://www.hpiracing.com/graphics/instr/savage/s21_p17.jpg

3.) Don't not duck tape your gas tank. Use silicone or some kind of sealer. If not the nitro will eat through the tape adhesive and come off which result in erratic response of your savage.

4.) You can always cut off the extra length of the screw so it won't hit the tank. Extend chasis won't have that problem if you decide to get one.

5) Hope you ordered the Primeless tank... if you need a primer you can always get the OFNA inline primer.. Primer on the tank creates bubble which cause the engine to run erratic

6) trick is to move the spur gear and wheels in the opposite direction so you can get the holes to line up.. use the spur gear as your main and hold it then move the wheels.
 
my savage wasn't shifting either, i was on my 6th tank of gas before it ever shifted. now it fine.
 
I am till having fits trying to get to this screw, I still can't see it. basicallly I should hold the back tires still and move the front ones and the spour gear to be able to see the shift point screw right
 
if your savage is still brand new.. you have to wait awhile... plus tuning it properly will shift it... the shift is a result of RPMS... you need to tune right... plus you have to wait like 6 tanks in order to get it properly broken it for the 2 speed to work.. in some cases..
 
TRD is exactly right, it takes a few tanks and tuning before it will shift. I had to run 6 tanks, and keeps tuning before it would shift.
 
Yep.. It's not gonna happen right away. Be patient and it will happen. Also, it's best to adjust the shift point on a flat smooth surface like a parking lot first. You can hold the truck up and gas it and you'll feel it shift. It jerks. I was getting frustrated when I first got mine, so I tightened the adjustment screw all the way in and then started from there. I was thinking like my onroad and be at around 3.5 turns out. Wrong. The savage ended up to be like 7 turns out. Somewhere around there.
