My buddies truck is shifting properly but not coming out of second gear. He has tried to play with the shift points but it doesent work. Anybody have any ideas?

I've heard of this happening before,I beleive the problem was the one way bearing in the tranny.it should be located on the 2-speed shaft.either way it looks like your friend is gonna have to take the tranny apart.

If the engine idles too high the tranny won't downshift back to first gear but it will upshift fine.

My father had the same problem, his idle was too fast and it wouldn't downshift.

idk if its off topic but how do u make it shift early ?which direction should i turn the pin?is it counter clockwise?cuz mine doesn't shift but I'm not sure cuz i ran it on a bmx track which has a short straight away

Think of the shift adjuster like a clock. If it's 12 noon, and you turn it clockwise to 1 or 2 o'clock, it's now later. Back it off to 11, and it's earlier.
Be careful backing it off. Just 1/16th turn at a time. If you back the screw all the way out, you're in for a tranny teardown. If, after backing it a few tries, nothing changes, you have a problem internally and need to open it up.
