steering servo problems

RC Driving Style
for the past three days I've noticed my steering getting weak. I've replaced batteries, helped a little. well yesterday i replaced the servo with a futaba s3305 heavy duty. it done fine till about 2 tanks of fuel, then the same thing. when i turn the wheels it sounds like something is binding. when i disconnect the servo the steering turns freely. it seems like its binding where the steering rod connects to the servo. i have to use the stock linkage on the servo cause the others that came with the servo wont work. I'm not sure what to do now.
 
You should get a rechargable reciever pack, it helps a lot, and lasts much longer!
 
Are you using the stock bushings or did you upgrade to the steering arm bearings yet? Between 4-pack AA's and bushings, this combo tends to wear down your batts and servo power, quick. Upgrade to bearings a recharge pack and you will not have as many problems with steering, even with aftermarket servos.
 
the servo was the only thing i upgraded. at first i thought it was the batteries just going dead all the time, i was going to get the hump pack 6v, i think that will help with juice i need.. i hope yeah and the bearings. thanx for the info

Nite, this statement confused me. Can you elaborate a little?

Yeah, a rechargable is nice and yeah, bearings are nice, but I like to solve problems, not throw money at them.

I think he's refering to the horns that come w/ the servo....don't use those anyway unless you have a servo saver steering set...the one that cam w/ the maxx should be fine or use the Kimbrough or racers edge savers...
 
yeah the horn is what i was talking about, i didnt know what it was called.... i got one of the horn to work with a slight modification. it does work, but this is only til i can get the right parts. BTW what is a steering servo saver. I'm still a newbie at all this.

cheapest there is alot better 1 but it costs a good bit

that will give you an idea on what you need when you go to your LHS and get 1 if they dont have 1 lemme know i got a spare ,just email me your address and i will send it to you
its the same i that comes stock with the tmaxx, so it should work not saying it will cause there are different splines on aftermarket servos

thanx for the help Rick, the servo horn that i put on is working great. I also put in a hump pack battery, i ran the maxx pretty hard yesterday and no problems at all. but thats what its all about, if it aint broke, break it, fix it and go bash some more...lol :hammer:
 
servo horns will work great for no stress areas but it does not give when you hit something hard with the tires ,it will break either the horn or our servo ,,

If you don't have a servo saver on your steering the binding you are hearing is probably gears stripping when it reaches the end of the travel limited by the steering linkage but the servo can still turn more....If you have an after market controller you can set the end points on your steering channel.....but you should still run a servo saver....Most people seem to like the UE set but it's 90 bucks....I use the proline version cause you can just buy replacement plastic parts for it for 5 bucks IF they break....

I'm not gonna leave my steering this way, its only temporary till i can get upgrades.. thats not a bad idea for that proline steering, i may look into getting that. thanks. in the mean time, i still have my revo. thanks for all the input again guys..
