Ok, I just put an new hitec servo in my lst2. Going from 2 to 1 servo. The problem is The arigional scew that held the steering parts on that bolted threw to the servo gear is bigger than the one that comes with it. I tried the smaller screw but it doesn't hold right any one had this problem.
 
What hitec servo?

Hitec uses 2.5 mm threads I think. I drill mine out and tap them to 3mm so I can use any short screw in my spare parts box.

If you drill and re-tap it, be very careful not to drill or tap beyond the bottom as it will push the potentiometer inside the servo apart. I did that once.

Take a piece of wire, stick it in the servo bolt hole, mark it, then use that to mark your drill bit and tap to give you a guide.

I do this to all my metal geared servos so I don't ever get caught without a spare. Besides, the servo horn screws are always made out of super soft stock, so they strip easy and your still screwed.(no pun intended...)

why are you going from 2 servos to one :hump:
 
Hobby shop man

This is my first RC car. The hobby shop man said that I needed to upgrade my servo. He looked at the car and told me how to do it. The servo he sold me is a hitec 5595tg he said it would turn so much better. I even asked if I needed 2 He said no. But the thing was it would not mount up propperly. So he sold me a heavy duty servo saver That had and adapter to make the servo fit on with the screw that came with it. After shaving down the mounts for the servo I got it lined up right. But it still seems to not turn as well to the side that the one is missing is on. Because the servo saver gives more to that side. I was going to hook the other one back up just to give it a little more but the adapter is to big on the other servo, so theres just not enough room to do that. Any ideas now. Thanks, a new machanic.
 
Take the servo horn off the servo and see if the steering linkage binds when it's not connected to anything. If it isn't moving as far one way as it is the other even though the servo is moving, you probably have something mechanically binding.

Is your new servo a 5955TG? I can't seem to find a 5595TG. If it's a 5955TG then it should really throw those tires back and forth like a rag doll!

It has 333oz of torque! That's a hair less than twice the power of the two stock servos put together. You might have a hard time finding a servo mounted saver that can transfer that kind of power. That much torque would work much better with a different chassis mount type saver, like the revo or savage upgrade saver. I don't know of a conversion or anything for a LST like that though... I'll be on the lookout as I'm probably going to get an aftershock this weekend.

Do you have this particular saver now? It's the stiffest one I could find.

Yes thats my servo. And looks like my saver. Like you said I think I need a heavier saver that wont give. May try this one to.
 
I use just one servo and it works to perfection the thing is, is that I use a JR9000t for steering and its the best you can get. Try one out
