I have a 2.5 Maxx. the steering servo is pretty much gone on my truck.
I had an older T-Maxx that I put a Hitec on. It worked great.
So, I need to get a new servo.
Should I try to get another Hitec or wait until I get my upgraded radio equip??
I am trying to decide whether to get a jr xs3, M8, or 3PK.
Are the Hitec servos that work with the stock traxxas stuff compatible with the above high-end radios??
One thing that I don't really understand is radio equipment compatibility.

thanks,
adrian

Yes they are compatible. I run Hiteck servos on most of my trucks, and I am using the JRXS3 radio. I run the 5645mg digital in my Savage SS for steering, and the 645mg in my Maxx for steering.

I am not looking at taking out a loan on the truck right now, because there is alot of other stuff I want/need.
Also, I am getting ready to get an MGT, so the tmaxx isn't the priority right now, but I am definately not done with it.
I plan on getting it right and wearing out the 2.5 until I can get a bigger engine. Jump machine!!!
haha

So, do digital servos with with analog equimpent??
Also, if I were to get the JR XS3 Pro, is the RX digital??
Again, I am pretty new to radio equipment. I have a JR XR2 with my xxxnt, and I am pretty good with it. That is why I am leaning torwards the xs3. I don't think I will get my money's worth out of the expensive radios. I don't know enough about them to enjoy them!!!

thanks,
adrian

Are you sure about that? I guess when I was running my stock radio gear I only had the 645s, not the digital 5645s. But since I got my XS3 I prefer the 5645. Both are great servos, I have used them in all my rides over the years and I have had great luck with them.

Ditto on that. I am going through and replacing all of my steering servos on my T-Maxx, Hyper 7 PCR and RS4-3 with the 645mg or 5645mg. I am also adding the digital Rx from Novak to the above three rigs and using the digital Rx that came with my MX3-S Tx, on my Revo. I have no plans to change out my Revo steering servos at this time as I feel they work fine and have not made up my mind on which way I want to go on this rig.

So what is the deal with digital servos??
It the JR XS3 a digital receiver??

Also, what is the difference with 27Mhz and 75 Mhz FM radios?? I thought 27Mhz was AM??
I am confused.
hahah
thanks

You can get both 27mhz and 75mhz in either am or fm. The JR XS3 radio is a great radio, I love mine. It is a synth radio, which means it requires no crystals. The 75mhz version will give you 30 channels to choose from, so you will never be left out of a race for lack of frequincies. The 27mhz model will only give you 6 channels, so if you do get the XS3, be sure and get the 75mhx fm one. The XS3 pro lets you add settings for up to 10 cars, while the regular XS3 only allows up to 6 cars.

No there are two bands with different freq ranges.

FM has 27 and 75 and AM is the same 27 and 75.

I am going to assume that he can use digital servos with the system. I have the XR3i which includes the option of fast frame rate to take advantage of digital servos. Am I wrong in assuming then that the XS3 has the same?

hitec servo ordered, along with kimbrough servo saver.
i picked up some rpm shock cups too for my xxxnt and tmaxx.

52 bucks isn't bad for all that!!

My hitec came in today, and I realized that I didnt' order the one with the J connector (the futaba one).
I plugged it into my truck anyway (it is the hitec/jr/z one) and it worked fine.

is this right??
I just want to make sure.
thanks,
adrian

The XS3 does have the Fast Frame rate for digital servos.
