What's the trick for good steering on these things. Only way I can get quick steering both ways is to loosen off the Allen keys on the top and bottom on both front wheels. By the time I get good steering their is play up and down. Also if I don't loosen it turns better one way than the other?

where do you have your steering set on your TX?, you can do a lot of fine tuning with the turning radius by making adjustments.

I have everything set to the Center going in a strait line is not the problem. The servo seems to struggle going one way compared to the other. Not to mention the stock tires really suck on this thing

With your servo on and where you think you have it centered turn the steering in one direction and measure the front outside of the tire to the skid plate. Then turn the wheel the other direction and perform the same measurement. Are they about the same distance?

I replaced my stock traxxas steering servo with an after market metal geared high torque servo along with a aftermarket servo savor. Mine is a JR Racing Servo which I do not think they make anymore and the servo savor is Dynamite meant to fit my servo.

I also replaced my steering linkage on the frame with an all aluminum setup.

Traxxas uses a Futaba Spline I believe and a good replacement servo would be a Futaba S3305 High torque metal geared servo. Kimbrough Servo Gear Saver Futaba would be a better replacement for the stock.

I replaced my stock Chevron treaded tires for the same Talon tires used on the Revo and love the way the truck handles on even loose dirt.

Definitely replacing the steering with that alum setup. Going to be replacing the servo tomorrow depending on what they have. Water was a little deep today and soaked the shift servo so I'm going to move the steering servo up and replace the steering.

I have the same Rig Zrock & i struggled with steering issues as well...
What I found out the Stock Steering Servo ware's out too quickly that servo is tasked with turn'ing huge wheel's.. So what I did I got a Stronger Steering Servo a SAVOX & coupled it up with a 1600 Mah RX recever pack & my MAXX wheels dont have a problem turning now Actually I couldent beleve the difference it made with this upgrade

I agree with a 1600 mah hump pack in place of the AA's as well as a servo with at least 125 oz in of torque rating or more. Also if you havnt already upgraded your rx/tx to a 2.4ghz system it would be a good thing to do. Most new radios have travel adjustments so you can set the turning radius to its max potential on your servos along with sub trim and many other fine tuning abilities.

good advise that was what i was talking about in my post ! upgrade to the 2.4 !

Ya calling the local shop this morning to see what they have for servo's. Especially when i read the spec's on the stock steering servo and its only around 80-86 oz depending on what website you look at. I replaced the batteries in the receiver with a set of my Sanyo Envelope rechargeable and that made a big difference. These batteries are rated #1 in the DSLR camera world as they hold their power right until the end. They will work until i upgrade to the humpback... I was thinking on switching out the remote for my old Savage remote that has the travel adjustment in it. Just not sure how the reverse is going to work

Groved all the tires. Really helped in the grip department. Helped in the steering a little bit. What I did notice is this thing is so light and has enough tourque that if I'm on the throttle at all the fronts are barly on the ground. Took all the toe out of the rear to force more weight to the front end and less traction. This will hopefully help. Guess ill find out next time I run it
