I've done some research and am only finding steel gears sets that say forward only , does that mean it eliminates reverse? That would suck, if anyone can't point me to a eBay seller that sells steel gears that won't eliminate reverse function that would be great. Thanks guys.

Most of the time when people upgrade to metal transmission gears, they are trying to strengthen it up. Leaving reverse in defeats the purpose.

I wouldn't even consider steel gears unless you're going to run a true big block with lots of power.

I'm going to be running a ofna .28 jl. I hear they are gear shredders, if anyone with a .28 can chime in and tell me otherwise I'd be fine with that. But I forgot to mention that a .28 was going in. I have a brand new picco .26 and a ofna jl .28. So I'm expecting problems with the plastic nylon gears. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong as I don't mind saving the money on not upgrading stuff if it's unnecessary. Thanks

Mike

You’re going to want the steel gears with a .28
Forward only is a much more reliable transmission and will make you a better driver.
I don’t know of any steel reverse gears for the revo.

Thanks bro. The only way I see keeping reverse is with the top steel gear set. But that would probably leave 2nd gears to end up failing. What a dilma. How do stock gearing hold up to the picco .26. As soon as the 3.3 wears out I have a new .26. And as far as I can tell the .26 has been discontinued by ofna so I don't know if I'll be able to get replacements. But I will have the .28 waiting to go in. I have 3 brand new motors for the revo. I've had a lot of traxxas nitro rc's from the t maxx to the rustler and another I cannot even remember. Lol my first traxxas was the cat 25 some years ago. I just want to have the spar parts in my field box as I hate stuff breKing and then waiting for parts. Just want to be prepared for the inevitable. Thanks again guys the help is always greatly appreciated from fellow modellers

You really would only need the primary and first. The rest of them should fare well.

Thanks for the advise, I really want to keep reverse so I went with what you suggested and ordered the top steel set. Paid 15.50 for them so it didn't hurt the wallet to much. Wife was ok with it lol. I recieved my .28 in mail today. Man it is a monster compared to the 3.3 and picco .26. Can't wait till spring to start bashing. Just have to take my wife's e revo out until warm weather comes back to canada.
