So i just got my roll bar this week that i have been waiting on and i go to start my truck up for the first time since sunday the 9th and all it does it turn over, so i pulled the air filter off so i could see things better and then covered the exhaust for a second and had fuel spraying out of the carb still not starting tho. It doesn't ever flood, glow plug is good, tried a new glow plug also. Retuned to factory settings with no help. pulled the carb apart and cleaned then soaked it over night. no help then pulled the motor off and cleaned and soaked it over night. Still just turning over not starting at all. I have the ez start, Both lights are on, I dont know what else to do now other than buy a new motor so i am coming to you guys first for help. Also its a 2.5 not a 3.3

The first thing I want to ask is if your piston is pumping up and down. If its just slipping, then you could try cleaning your owb. (one way bearing). I fought with mine for a while one day till I realized my owb was shot. So i bought a new one and she fired right up. That's all I got so far. Good luck.

Yep it is pumping up and down as it appears it should.
Well.....hmmmmmm.....ya got me stumped. If you have a good plug, good fuel, and your hsn is out 4 turns from fully closed. Your lsn should be flush with the end of the carb barrel, you have a 1mm gap in your carb. That thing should come right to life. You using the blue wire to heat your plug? I would suggest ditching that, and getting a seperate glow ignitor with a meter. That'll telltale if your plugs getting hot or not.

Well i pulled the glow plug out and held it as i used the starter and it was glowing red hot and with my temp gauge after about 15-20 secs of trying to start it the temp went up almost 10 degrees. I have tried the blow dyer trick. got the head up to about 180*F with it still with no luck. My guess is picco .26 here i come :)

Wish I coulda helped ya. Usually they fire right up at factory settings. Anyway, good luck with the picco. I hear its a great engine.;)

If i dont get a "direct replacement" engine what does it normally take to get the engine to work?

I guess I don't understand your question. But if you mean what parts need to be changed over, you'll have to keep your flywheel, exhaust, header, the screw that holds the flywheel on, your clutch bell, clutch shoes, and spring. ALL THIS YOU KEEP. And assemble it onto the new engine. Don't forget to keep the bearings too. Hope this helps.

like there are the PICCO .26 MAX and then there are Ofna Jammin .28 say i was looking at choosing one of those 2. The Picco says it is a direct replace me to a traxxas engine yet the jammin does not

O

Hmmmmmm. I'm not too sure about that. Someone will pop in here and help ya out I'm sure. Good luck though.

The picco .26 Maxx Ez start is what you're looking for. You will have to buy the engine mount and you will have to modify the pipe hanger slightly the new mount moves the engine up a little bit so the stock hanger is to short. It comes with a carb and you still use the stock clutchbell, header, pipe, and your ez start. Rc planet sells them for around 189 and the mount for about 18 my buddy did this to his 4908 four months ago and it is wicked bad!!

Thanks that is good to know.

More on this engine. Today i go 2 start it. its been sitting 24 hrs and at first it was flooded so i drained it. then i go 2 start it again and surprisingly it started. the bad part was that i was inside in my basement with out the batterys hooked up. soo i quick went outside hooked all the batteries up and went to start it. Nothin.. unhooked the battery nothing. wasn't flooded but i still drained it thinking i would repeat what i did last time. and still nothing. so the small light i saw just burnt out :( lol does any one else have any guess to what could be causing this? Its getting fuel because after a lil while of trying to start it i will tip the truck and it will drain out of the exhaust. The glow plug is still good. O and when i would tip the truck front end up into the air and attempt to start it it seemed like it was closer to starting than when sitting flat. i can't think of any more info that could help if there is i will add it. Thanks!

Could quite possibly have an air leak somewhere. Check your fuel lines, see if your cooling head screws are tight. Check for cracks on your fuel tank. Might just be a small crack or a loose screw. Haha..sounds like people I work with!!!!! Ahahaha!!!!!

This may sound silly but maybe you have a problem in the starter wand itself. Maybe its heating the plug but just not quite getting it hot enough. A friend of mine had a starting issue like this until it finally quit heating the plug all together.

Trash the ez start line on the glow plug and get a glow plug heater. I had the same problem with my ez start wand. I bought a glow plug stick and cut the wires off the ez start. Glow plug isn't getting hot enough or the wand can't keep it hot long enough for it to start.

I'm going to pick up a glow plug heater on tuesday when my LHS gets them in stock and then i will let you guys know if that helped or not.

so my engine is junk.. and in all my looking i found "Big Red" Monster .28 Mach 2. Does anyone here know anything about it and how easy/hard it is to install into a t-maxx. Also is it worth the money for $135? if not what is an engine that i can get for right around that price. I dont want to have to pay any more than $150

you can do the traxxas engine swap and get a new 2.5 or a 3.3. I got a new 2.5r engine for my old one and 90 bux through my lhs.
