hey, my 3.3 revo has been sitting since last winter...been a little too busy with everything else. i charged all the batterys and checked the glow plug. when i went to start it the motor turns over but I'm not getting any fuel to the motor....help please

Did you try priming the engine? If not that would be the first thing I'd do. You know the whole finger over the exhaust pipe for 1 or two seconds to get some fuel through the lines into the cylinder... If that doesn't work, try making sure that all of the places where you could have an air leak are alright. Check the nut that holds the carb on for tightness as well as the cooling head screws and the back plate where your starter is. If it was stored in a place that wasn't really really dry all of your seals should be alright, i.e. not dried out and cracked... Hope one of these things works for you. If not post here again and I guarantee someone else will post with much better stuff than I've got for ya...

+1 to priming the engine. You should be able to see the fuel moving through the tube, once it gets close you can take your finger off, the motor should finish drawing it into the engine.

Replace the fuel & pressure lines. Check the exhaust coupler and exhaust seal at the header. Make sure the fuel tank O-ring did not go bad either.

i already tried priming the engine by putting my finger over the exhaust and theres still no fuel moving through

You either have a clogged filter or needle seat if you're getting no fuel at all.

I agree, however a leak in the fuel or exhaust system can make priming really difficult.

I normally just disconnect the pressure side from the exhaust and blow in it. Easier then trying to hold finger over exhaust while Revo is bouncing from tugging the pull starter.

I'm a wuss, I still use the EZ Start so plugging the exhaust is easy. :D But that's a good tip for anyone who has a pull start.

My Revo won't Start ....

I had it running the other day, and it ran fine. It has been getting harder and harder to get going. It has a bit of a Surging idle but I have always been able to get it going. So far I have run about 12 tanks of fuel through it.

I have clear fuel lines So I watched the fuel go right to the carb while priming. I tried a new glow plug, but still nothing, not even a kick. I spun it over till the ez start battery was dead, charged it up and whirled till it was dead again....

Could my engine be just that worn out ??? I bought it used, so who knows what it saw before I got it.

Could an air leak make it this hard to start ?

Air leaks are a nightmare, but a shot engine with poor compression can be a real bear when it's a cold start.
Rotate the flywheel by hand and see what kind of resistance you get.

I pulled the engin apart, well almost... I don't know how to get the rod off the crank to pull the piston out...

But here is what I observe... The weight of the piston alone will slide down the cylinder wall when I turn the crank and leave the piston at TDC. This is with the starter side of the crank pulled off and the head off so I can see the piston... There is ZERO resistance.

So you don't feel anything as the piston reaches the top? If not, it'll be time to look into your options for a replacement. :(

If it's the 3.3, then for $115 you can use the ERP, Traxxas has the details on their site if you need them. Or if you have the funds you can look at getting something better.

Absolutely nothing at TDC... I also can grab the crank on the Starter side and wiggle it a bit. can the end cap bushing/bearing be worn.

Also, the crank looks a bit rusty. I think Its time to go ERP... I wish I could afford something better... But I don't know what to buy or how much it would cost.

Thanks,

There is ZERO resistance.

I find it almost unbelievable that it would run at ALL with totally shot compression and pinch.
When you have a new piston and sleeve, or a new engine, just remember that you have to do a complete break in again.
You'll then be able to talk to the car in mixed company.:D

It was a real bugger to get going. I would almost alway kill a battery turning the rig over trying to get it started. Today I had enough...

I looked into the Traxxas ERP, but its a dead end if you live outside the USA. All the Hobby Shops here won't even look at it. They say its too much hassle for them.. It would be $110 plus shipping to Canada.. Then add in the cost of me shippinig my engine, with insurance to Texas. Then tak into account $ exchange rate. It would be atleast $150, and I would have to wait 3-4 weeks for it all...

A hobby shop in Nova Scotia sells the TRX 3.3 with carb and pull starter for $159.99 plus tax... ($180.78 total). I'm breaking down and buying a new engine.
