Car wont Start-HELP

I recently noticed that my Violator shaft plate was loose and that some screws were falling out. Upon further inspection by Driver 6127, he noticed that my one-way bearing was shot as well. It was replaced, and the shaft plate was firmly put back on-locktite and all. Now when I try to use my roto start the car just wont start, the engine turns, but thats it. I checked the glow plug, checked the needles, checked the fuel filter to see if fuel was getting through, etc. But the car simply wont start-whats the problem?

have you primed it? try pouring fuel into the glow plug hole and then trying to start it. if it does, you know why it won't start.
 
Yes, I put a few drops of fuel in the glow plug hole, but nothing. I could see just a little smoke coming out of the pipe but thats it.
 
Found the problem, the head was not on tight enough, it was an air leak. Can you believe that?
 
Glad you found the problem, Erick. I guess it was what I thought when I saw the traces of fuel at the base of the heatsink. I'll see you in 2 weeks after you get back. Bring the violator to Cunningham Park and we'll put it through it's paces against the 2 schumachers!
 
I'm also bring the Thunder Tiger Mirage VSPEC, can't wait to hit the President with it!
 
Your problem sounds a bit like mine except that my head is on tight and I still can't get the darn thing to start.

I'm getting fuel flow, I'm on my second glow plug and glow starter so the only thing left are the hsn, lsn & idle settings but I've set these to factory spec (basically flush to the housing).

I cannot get this thing to catch at all. Just a 1/2 sec of noise then nothing.

I think i'm getting too much fuel at idle but which needle needs adjustment, lsn or idle screw??

I've been trying to start this thing for days any help is much appreciated.
 
Is this a new engine?

First off, make sure your carb gap is good (about 1mm) when full closed. Chances are, the LSN is to rich that's why it won't idle. lean the LSN about 1/16 of a turn at a time until she fires up. After a handful of seconds the idle rpm will probably pick up a little due to expansion of the sleeve from the heat buildup. That's ok as long as it doesn't go too high. As long as your idle gap is close to spec it should go too high. If it sounds like it's revving too high for idle speed then simply richen the LSN slightly.
 
Yep, it's a new engine but I bought it from LHS as a "demo". Supposed to have had 3 or 4 tanks through. It was virtually brand new. When they started it, no problems and I have had it running before.

Thanks for the info. I will start from factory and lean out the idle slowly and see if I get her to fire up.
