to get my t-maxx to start i have to work the throttle back and forth like on it, off it, on it, off it is that normal for and t-maxx. If not what can i do?

Are you priming your fuel before you start? Is your idle needle set properly? Is your fuel fresh? Is your air filter clean? Have you tried trimming your throttle instead of manually moving it while starting? A lot of people trim their throttle up when they are cold then back once warm, at least I do and it works fine.

What ambient air temps are you trying to start the T-Maxx in? I'm not sure if I can help you but the more details you give the veterans here the more likely you will get the answer you need clear and quick.

Thank you for your response, and when I just start the truck and what I mean by that is right from my room, I have to prime it. With my idle needle I am taking my truck to my lhs to have them tune it. I'm getting sickintired of screwing it up every time I try to do it and I allways mess something up, its my first nitro truck.Yes my fuel is fresh rite from the one-gallon container. My air filter is clean. No I haven't tried my throtlle trim it is pointing rite at the zero what way do I turn it to increase the idle/decrease, when you say trim the throttle what do you mean. I usually run it in about 60 degree whether. When it usally gives me the most trouble starting is when I take many High speed passes and then I bring it in and it just quits I thought at one point it was to hot so I richened it and it still ran hot 170 on a 60 degree day, so I leaned it back out again thinking that it was getting to much fuel it couldn't go up far enough and it still did it. I checked the blue smoke and I still have a good amount comeing from it what do I do could I adjust any more needles, what way to you turn the idle needle to increase the idle.

Sounds to me like you are running too rich to me. Temps from 190-230 are fine, you actually want it to be in that range. Leaning the mixture will raise the temps, richen will lower them. Paying a LHS to tune may get you through one run of the engine, you're basically throwing away money. Print the troubleshooting flow chart for nitro engines, it is very useful.

Take the body off and remove air filter, with trim on zero and transmitter/receiver on but truck not running. Look into the carb and adjust the trim. I don't have mine in front of me to tell you but typically clockwise is going to increase the throttle, counter-clockwise does the opposite and applies brake. That's how you know what the trim is doing.

To raise the idle you could probably turn your high speed needle clockwise to lean it out. You might find more help browsing youtube for "nitro tuning" help.
