About to pull the trigger guard n a new buggy. This will be my 1st kit.
I have all the electronic besides the batteries.

My question is what all do I need to get this done by the weekend?

My question is mainly regarding battery setup.
Keep in mind I'm New to the hobby and never charged a shorty lipo in my life.
Wanting a bullet setup (4mm)

Any help would be great.
I have my cart all set up

Any 2S shorty will do though most race grade brand batteries are 5mm bullets so watch out for that.

Zeee is a very good brand that I have grown to trust, they have a 4mm bullet battery here in a 100C which is also important to select a battery no less than 100C as well:

I make it a point to minimize the length of wire from the ESC to the battery so it's physically impossible to reverse the polarity when plugging in the bullets, in the following pic the red wire can't reach the negative pole:

*** Also note that there is no industry standard between brands of batteries where Zeee has the polarity reversed on their battery from the Pro-Match battery in the following pic as well... keep that in mind if you plan to switch brands of battery at any point.

The thing that gets me is balance charging the battery and the little dangly small wire

Everything you need to know is explained here:
https://batteryuniversity.com/article/bu-409-charging-lithium-ion

Quick Summary:

1) Keep battery in storage mode at all times and store battery in cool/dry place (ideally indoors HVAC)
2) Charge battery immediately before use
3) Re-charge as often as you like for the day, then put back into storage mode when finished using
4) Fastest way to get battery into storage mode is to run the car down until LVC hits on the ESC

More tips here on selecting a quality charger:
You'll need a charge cable cable like this to charge the shorty packs:
