i just got the truck last week was originally a 2.5 but got the 3.3 motor had it running last week in my dads basement. today it was beautiful out 65 degreese the snow melted so i went to a local park to break it in but i couldnt get it started i held it infront of my heater on my truck kept changing glow plugs and still nothing, its getting gas didnt see where it was flooding, after 3 batteries in the quickstart i was done out of batteries, is there an easier way to start these or are they always a pain starting after they set for a week or two?

how are the tiger drive starting system? that way i could use my cordless drill which should last a lot longer

i left a tiny bit in the tank that i couldnt get sucked back out, I'm just wondering if it is because it hasnt been broke in yet?

I'm using a glow plug igniter not the one on the easy start i checked them before i put in the new glow plugs

are the needles at factory settings ??....and did you seal the engine ???....mine is easier to start since i sealed it ...and runs allot cooler to

Sounds like you need to turn in the low needle a little at a time til it starts, just 1/8th of a turn at a time. Also make sure it's good and warm. Also a glow ignitor battery will die quicker and doesn't glow as bright as an ez-start.

took a hair dryer to the motor today and got it started but it was cold outside so i drove it around for about 5 minutes in my dads basement and it quit on me so i went to start it and i noticed it seemed hot steam coming from down in around the glow plug so i pulled the body off and noticed that the exhaust i had just painted with high temp paint i think 450 degreese, well the paint was bubbling so it was very hot. and it felt like it had very little compression but after setting about 4 hrs it has compression again but i never tried to start it, hopefully its all right. would it be too lean or lack of air movement that caused this?

the lack of air flow will make it run hot ...and I'm not sure if paint is a good thing ..might prevent the heat to dissipate properly

i had overheating problems with mine before i sealed it ..and its winter ..was about 30° out ... it was brand new ...besides the obvious parts to seal ( back plate , carb )...the fuel line nozzle on the HSN only has metal washers pressing on hard plastic to create a seal ..I'm pretty sure some air can get through there and make it run lean ....

take it apart and seal the washers with good RVT silicone ..just be careful not to get silicone where its not supposed to be , so you dont clog anything ....and when you put it back together dont over tight it so you dont strip the treads in the carb

i think I'm about ready to throw this thing in the trash and forget it!!!!!!!! I'm pretty pissed right now, the gears in my electric start stripped, so i put the pull start on then it breaks, so i fix the pull start and set here and pulled for about a half hour this thing wont start for nothing.
