Ok i dunno how it happend but i did a end over end flip like 12 times adn somehow the negotive starter wire clip broke in 2 I'm gunna try soldering it back to get her but if that doesn't work am i gunna have to but a whole wiring harnes or do you just splice a new negotive wire in

I'm talking about the NEGOTIVE black wire that goes to the starter motor and BTW i do use a glow ignitor nor the glow wire

Sorry I didn't read close enough, heck in that case nows the time to ditch that heavy starter and get a $20 pullstart. My bad as I didn't read well, and not like I am a spelling expert by any means it is NEGATIVE.

noway i have a pull start on one of my other cars and its a pain in the ass I'm deffinatly stickin with the EZ start

Resolder it. I'd throw away the ez start, weight issuses.

i dont mind the wiehgt and heavier shock oil and springs will easily fix that

I'm not saying that it's a bad idea, I'm say that the first few things that I did to my 2.5 were to eliminate the ez start and eliminate the reverse(FOC). Huge weight savings and rotational mass reduction. The difference is night and day. If you keep it tuned properly you shouldn't have starting issues.

You can go to your LHS and buy replacement wires for the EZ Start system. Yes, that is right TRAXXAS actually sells them as a replacement part. Or you could try and replace the wire yourself.

Personally, I agree with the fellas. I dumped my EZ Start for a pull start engine and have not gone back to anything like it...and I am quite happy. BUT everyone is entitled to their opinions and desires.

I think i want to trade mine for a pull start to make my sportmaxx a little more sporty. but that will be after i fit the 1/8 scale on road tires and the 3 speed.:redbuggy:

Check out the Hot Bodies Jump Start. It works great. You eliminate the EZ start weight, yet you still have the convenience of pushing a button to start it.

Here is what I did, I got rid of the EZ start on Ebay for $20 and you can buy the Hot Bodies for $40. That is only $20 to upgrade your starter system. Why spend $20 on a pullstart, I tried it and they suck. The string didn't even last through a weekend of running.

I agree with all you guys. I found myself really not liking the Z start system. So, my first upgrade, besides the normal failsafe, etc. was to get rid of that ugly contraption that was mounted beside my motor. It took some time getting use to it (this was my first nitro), but I don't want to go back. Well, the new roto start system with my MT2 is pretty nice I have to say! If I could only attach that to my 2.5 somehow?? Anyway, just my .02

you probably could put the rotostart on your maxx. it would take a littl emodding, just find the right one way and jimmy rig some mounts. that would be SUHWEET!

Roto start!!! I have it and love it. It starts way faster, and weighs alot less. The easy start system doesn't alow the glow plug to get to its peak hotness before turning over the engine. I think sometimes that is why the engine floods!!!
