Thinking about getting into drifting, what are some of you guys' opinions on a starter rig, (electric).

I'm liking this, it looks like it will be a nice solid rig.
 
I got to play with it. The owner's personal drifter is their display car. It is really cool for that sort of thing. Cheap when you consider all that aluminum and carbon fiber not to mention being RTR. May not wow a racer but it is way cool for a first timer! My nephew will be giving Uncle Cody some wheel time for sure!
 
I think i may just go with this,

If i do get it I'm going to wait to buy it after the holidays.

Anyone had any experience with one of these?

For a starter chassis, the TT01 is the way to go. I started out with this, being a cheap chassis, and I loved it. Never broke down on me, never needed spare parts. I ran it all stock except the aluminum main shaft and full ball bearings. Electronics don't count.

If you seriously want something to start with and hop-up to something that will look like a HPI Pro-D, then a Yokomo is best. You can buy the kit for $200 with a really nice body (Yokomo makes the best drift bodies). From their you can get used to drifting. Yokomo's come ready for adjustable turnbuckles, camber and toe, etc. which is perfect for setting up for drifting. Once you feel comfortable, you can upgrade using their hop-up kits. They are called Stage upgrade kits. They come with upgrades for your Yokomo, like for Stage 1 upgrade you get adjustable springs, Stage 2 you get a front one-way, CVD's, etc., Stage 3 you get a carbon fiber chassis. Most experienced people just buy the stage kits and put it together like that, then just buy the spares they need.


If you are looking for something RTD (Ready to Drift), Yokomo and HPI will be your best bet. Yokomo makes a RTD kit, but you need a body and some drift wheels and tires. You may also want to consider a better charger. I believe HPI makes the E10 and the Sprint 2 RTR, I'm not sure.


The XRay T01 Evo would probably be good for tracks only, since it is belt driven. If you are drifting in front of your house or at a parking lot or something, you WILL get rocks in your belts and mess up your whole transmission. Places without dirt and a smoothed concrete would be best for these, that's why I suggested a track. You can also run it indoors like in your garage, but I like to drift outside.
 
Well i found a HPI Pro 4 roller for 105$ in GREAT condition,but then i would have to get electronics. And I don't know anything about the electronics...
 
it would be really easy to figure out the electronics for it man....thats not a bad deal either for a nice roller, i agree with the others though that the TT01 is great but just keep looking around.....check out Amain too.
 
Has anyone ever had a brushless drifter?
And still no answer on the CF or Plastic thing,
help please lol.
