can anyone tell me how you set up a starter box? does the chassis sit on top of
the box or does it sit on top of the pins. i have the flywheel that comes with the crt kit (35mm) on a mach 427 engine. if i sit it on the box, the rubber wheel rubs the crt chassis because the wheel is to long(side to side on the box). if i put the chassis on the pins the rubber wheel doesn't come close to the chassis.
do i have to shim the box motor up or get a bigger flywheel?
 
What box? Some sit on the pins and others sit on the chassis and use the pins for alignment. Also what engine mount? It's not just the flywheel, if you have a RTR mount then you will need a different flywheel.
 
i have the pro kit so it has the pro mounts. i have the chrome top blue ofna box. also any input on the tko plates for the crt and losi 8ight. I'm trying to run both cars off one box
 
It sits on top of the pegs. To properly align a starter box first set your mill on the chassis, mark the centerline of your engine/flywheel on the chassis along with where the flywheel centerline is in the opening in the chassis. Remove the mill and the crosspoint of these two marks is going to be your low point for the flywheel. Have the pegs on the box loose enough to move them around and set the chassis on them bringing the high point of the bump wheel to the where the lowpoint of the flywheel is. Tighten everything down and put the mill back in. The wheel will clear but it's a tight fit not allowing much clearance on either side. I've used the TKO plates and they are great, however I've never used two different ones on the same box. IMO, it would be a pain in the arse, trying to line them up properly every time.
 
i figured out what was happening. the rear peg on the motor side was hitting the motor inside the box, not allowing the platform to go down all the way and that is why i thought my flywheel was too small. had to move the pin to another location now it works perfect. now i just have to figure how I'm going to run two different cars on the same box. thanks for the help
