my son got a stampede xl 5 for x mas and it was stopping fine but then after like two batterys the breaks where barely working. i tried using my transmitter and reciver from my erevo and the breaks didnt work right still so i contacted traxxas and they sent me a new motor.the new motor didnt change the breaking so i sent the esc in to them and they gave me a new one.now the same thing is going on so i dont know what else it could be please help with any ideas.:juggle:

Have you tried reprogramming the ESC? The ESC has to know what full throttle and brake are, or else it has no idea. What ESC are you using?

its the xl-5 and i tried reprograming the esc as long as you mean set the trottle end points.is there any other programing that you can do?its a brand new esc not even the same one that was acting up.

I've tried reprograming a million times it is driving me nuts!:dancingpoop: i hope someone has the answer please help!

What radio system are you using? Is it the stock Traxxas 2.4 unit? If so, did you follow the section on programming the radio too?

i tried the stock radio and reciver and also tried my other radio and reciver from my erevo and got the same outcome. yes i tried all the program opptions like resetting to default setting ,end points and braking 100% even expo. so i dont know what else it could be  its just weird!

Do you have the throttle neutral switch set to 50/50, and have you tried setting the multi funtion knob to control braking percentage?

if i was you i would send it back to traxxas and tell them to send you another truck

if they sent you a motor and speed controller and they can not figure it out
then i would send it back and get another one

just my .02

That is what my next move was going to be, but my son will be heart broken.my son is 5 and he has been playing with it with no brakes and still drives like a pro.

Sounds like a good excuse for Dad to get his own rig. You know, so your son has a back up rig. :D

I've already spent over two grand in just one year i can't justify buying another rig to my wife just yet. but i am looking into get somekind of indoor mini for in the living room on rainy days.:deadhorse:LoL:i got bit by the rc bug bad last year around this time and bought a redcat tornado and that was a junk car but, it tought me alot because i worked on it all the time! but then the revo 3.3 is a beast and slash 4x4 , stampede and now erevo which is out of hand. so man i wish i could but i think it would be pushing it.;)

I hear ya man, I've went a bit nuts myself, but you only live once right? Check out the micro t, great little rigs. Depending on room, you might even get away with a 1/18 scale like the RC 18b or t series.

(you only live once) my thoughts exactly ! i'm leaning towards the mini t look like a sweat little ride.

when you say you've set the end points. you are talking about seting the neutral point on the esc and not setting the end points, as you would do with a servo.
I'd imagine traxxas esc's are the same.
switch on Tx then press and hold set button on esc (LED turns green then red let go when on red)
LED will go off the blink once, pull throttle on Tx led will blink twice then push to reverse position led should blink green or stay green if you have lvd xl5 it may be red or green depending if lvd is set.
