Just replaced my pull start in my .21, i can run it as fast and hard as i want while holding it up in the air but when i apply the breaks it wont even stop the tires from spinning and when it does it stalls out. I'm thinking that its the idle adjust, I've messed around with the throttle setting on the radio and when its turned down to much it also stalls. if it was sucking air i wouldn't think it would run as hard as i can run i. I've tuned the HSN and LSN to about were they should be and thats not the problem either. Any Ideas?

adjust you idle and get back to us...what does it do when its on the ground??
can you run wot??what mill do you have .25 .26?? does it idle.more info whould be great

need more info, please??? could be glow plug, air leak, any number of things.... help us narrow it down a little more.

Thanks,
Zach

i can drive it around a bit and keep it running but it seems that its running to fast for the breaks and what not, i dont think it would be a air leak because i wouldn't getting any exceleration or anything out of it. whats a easy way of setting the idle, i can mess around with the idle screw and nothing happens, i' going to look around for the right explenation for that.

even when i have it sitting there stopped with the breaks on it seems to be running really fast?

take your air filter off and look in to the carb.your slide should be open about 2 to 3 mm about the thickness of a credit card..or there abouts

yeah its no where near that, i had the engine out and maybe i moved it and the linkage is out of wack, thanks man! i wont be abe to try it until tomorrow the neighbors are getting choked!

heres a look down one of my sts

Finally got to try this again to day, with no luck! I can run it as long as i want but as soon as i slow the motor down enough to were it should be idleing it stalls, if i have it on the ground with out the tires turning it stalls, i can rev it up well into second and keep it running as long as i want and it fine its just when i stop the tires it stalls. if i try starting it without the tires up of the ground it will not start as well, is there an actual clutch engagement that i have messed up or something?

ok so you set the idle..now if it won't idle then try to lean out your lsn 1/8 turn if you see inprovements.in the idle then keep on this track..if not go the other way with the lsn..its hard to tell if your rich or lean with this info

it was running pretty hot, my temp gauge went batty the last few times i used it so I'm tunning by soud more then anything, i used the old spit method and ran it a bit while tunning so it would shift nice, the idle isn't really 'set' I've turned it down as much as i can can while holding it in the air while haveing it running. It ran flawless until i removed the motor when replacing the pull cord.

i'll have to try messing with it tomorrow again, o had to set all the jets according to the specs in the book cause i messed up the msn.

I never had a problem with the drive train engaging will starting, is the a problem with this as well or is it just part of the tunning of the needles

Try recentering your throttle servo, if you brade and it stalls than the carb slide cuts off air to the engime therefore shotting it off so ya recenter and it should be just fine.

its not just breaking if i stop the tires from turning it kills the engine.
If i pull the linkage off and set the idle is that the way i should do it or what?
I think it must be the LSN and HSN that are messing it up?
The MSN can cause all sorts of issues, the only way i could do anything with it was by full CC turn until it stopss then backed it od 3 1/4 turns does that sould about right?
I might just take it back to the local R/C shop and let them screw with it if i can't get it by next week.

if the engine dies when u stop the tires, could it be a problem with your clutch?

I've gotten it to almost idle down to were i can hold it still but it doesn't want to disengage the clutch it seems? I'm going to take it somewhere to get it looked at because I'm sure missing something somewhere.

was wondering this myself, i noticednow when I'm pulling it over it turns the wheels. I'm sure its a clutch problem
If i pull it a part will it be very noticable?
what would cause it to happen if it is the clutches that are toasted?

just out of curiosity since you mentioned clutch, did you happen to remove the clutch shoes for any reason and then put them on facing the wrong direction? Check the direction of the clutch shoes and check that your clutch shoe srings are properly seated.

I need to rip into it probably tomorrow but it sounds to the local rc shop that the shoes or spring or something in there is hooped!
