Ok, I've tried about everything and still have the following problem. My Savage, with the factory engine, starts great and runs great. Temperatures are around 250-270 after a hard run. I run the truck about 2/3 a tank and it eventually stalls and I cannot restart it unless it sits for about 15-20 minutes. Any ideas?
It acts like it is starving for fuel when I try to restart.

I've noticed that also. Last time mine did that I noticed that the fuel line had no fuel in it. I pumped it till the fuel got to the carb, but then the fuel would flow back about 2 or 3 inches away from the carb. Also there was a sizzle sound. Letting it sit for about 15 minutes would result in a restart. Could be that the metal carb gets hot and boils the fuel, in effect preventing the engine from getting fuel.

I don't know why, yet, but this the first R/C out of 5 nitro cars and trucks that I've had this problem with. All my engine have or have had metal carbs so I'd have to deduct that is not the reason. I could be wrong. I have checked the engine temp on the Savage several times and this was also the exception to how I've always tuned my engines. I have always tuned for performance and visable evidence of adiquate lubrication and not by temperature. I had changed the factory fuel line routing and added an inline filter. Last night I put the line back to generally what the factory had it and checked the filter. The filter screen is clean and free of any obstruction so that is also not the problem. This .21 BB engine seems to be very picky on adjustment. I almost always have to make minor adjustments when I run it as compaired to my other engines. I love the truck but this is starting to really suck! The sun is shinniny this morning so it looks like today the Savage is going out to play, in which case it will probably happen again. If I find anything or think of something I'll post the results. I'll let you know what happens either way. I'm usually pretty good at getting these things going very well but this engine is stumping me. I know it would be no Picco .26 but I have a Megateck .21 long stroke and a .21 OS RG engine that I could put on if I had too. I may give the OS a shot and see what happens if todat doesn't go very well.

what happes is the tank lean out, what you rgetting is the tank to lean out, the engine temps are going up by the point it dues, the carb gets hot and flames out, the reason it will not restart is the fuel boils in the carb, and is causeign the issue..

did you set teh mixture with teh engine warm at 1/2 tank of fuel? try that if not, if the problem really annoys you you can add a heli tank to it like i did on mine, adn makes the truck very easy to keep in tune, from full to empty..

yup, I completely forgot about the 1/2 tank lean out.

CRSMP5, where did you mount the header tank? And how easy is it to fill?

I'm still using the same tank, i used a piece of coat hanger between the rear shock bolts now though, so i can pull the clips for the body mount fo rdifferent bodies with ease with a pair of plyers, i have yett o destroy it.. and i can admit I've tried and tried too..

as far as fillign it, i pull the red hose off, then the black hose off.. put red hose onto black nipple, fill it up, then put hosed back to proper positions. liek 15 to 30 sec to fill if i blow into the pressure feed line, or 2 min to let it fill on its own..

This is starting to disturb me! Nothing is working. It doesn't matter what I do. If I richen the settings then it runs like crap and does the same thing. I tried again this afternoon and the same results. No matter where I set the mixture or mixtures. There are no leaks and everything is tight. I have the carb off now. I was going to put my OS 20E carb on but it will not fit so the last resort is to try a composite carb off a new SH (Megatech) .21 engine. I'd try the entire engine but it not a pull start and neither is my OS engine (these were my 1/8 Buggy engines). Next step is just buying a new engine. I'm getting tierd of this.
