Well WoodiE says it coming soon. What I need is some ideas from experienced owners. I'll most likely be using a JR XR3 fm radio. So, what servo for steering? Should I also swap out the fuel tank for the new primerless before I get going? The wheels are a concern as well. I hear they're weak. I have a stock set of T-Maxx wheels I could use with the HPI stock tires..How about the shocks? What weight oil? And The rear diff. Should I use diff lock lube?

Sorry for all the ?'s, but If i'm going to build from scratch, i might as well build it right..
Thanks 4 your help.

it's up to what you are planning to do with the savage...

I would do:

4 spider diff
3000 - 5000 wt diff
50 - 60 shock oil
3 shoe clutch system
3 Aluminum clutch shoes (better grab last longer)

I am using a JR XS3 system and used the Z270 and works pretty well.. i don't know how it compares to the stock one..

I can't say I am a experience savage owner but I am learning from others here..

It would be nice for HPI to toss in the 3 shoe clutch system in there SS kit.. cause I know it comes in there RTR 25

I did a little searching and decided to go with a HiTec 5645 steering servo. And I'll pick up that 3 shoe system from the LHS..Still not sure on the rear diff or shock oil...Anyone else who can help?

Sup dude,

My Savage .25 RTR is on it's way. I would definitely go with the 3 Shoe clutch like TRD reco'd from everything I've read....all my buddies with a Savage are either running a regular three shoe or the UE 4 shoe clutch with all the other cluth things you have to buy to run it.

As for the DIffs Instead of adding a spool to the read and/or front.........I took the diffs apart and packed them with thick ass stuff from this site www.badhorsie.com. It's like night and day now compared to the regular "open diffs". My general offroad and climbing traction has improved tremendiously and I was suprised that even my on-road perfromance has improved (quite the opposite of having locked diffs which decrease on road perfromance). They claim that it's thicker then any auto grease on the market and I wouldn't be suprised as I had to take the chit out of the little tub with a knife..lol. Super Limited slips diffs now..sweet. I'm doing the same on my Savage .25 RTR as soon as I get it as I do 75% of my driving offroad.

As for the shock oil it depends of course.....If you like big jumps like myself then I'd definitely do a heavy oil and no less then 60wt all the way around. I got the Traxxas Big bore shocks a while back and the stock silicon oil was a joke......way to thin for anything but a road car.

Peace and enjoy your new SS KIT
