Spur gears????

Ya you guys right it was a damn snapped spring so i upgraded the clutch shoes spring and spur gear but I want to upgrade the drive shaft but dont know what sites sell them for a decent price?

Beware when looking for shafts!! There are alot of knock-offs out there, cheap crap!! Do your research and make sure they're gonna fit YOUR rig. Also look for CVD's, NOT universals. Traxxas and MIP make some of the best....NO INTEGY! Good shafts will cost some $, but you will get what you pay for.

ok thunder. you have a point. the reason i said that is that its what happened to me. it didnt come to me that just cause it happened to me doesn't mean it will happen to someone else. maybe i had it to lean.

be easy on yourself moe, we all have stuff happen for one another reason that we can't think of. I think I was a mite outta line toward you looking back at that post and the way it's written.

thunders post #6 is right on. what i did was use printer paper being .004 in most of the time ie thunder. but some times i also use receipt paper that is .002 in. so using receipt it should come out mostly wrinkled, and printer paper should come out VERY wrinkled , could even be cut. the gears must turn with no binding iam not saying this is the only way to do it, iam just saying this works for me

Moe, I have never once thought to use a receipt before, but then there are so many "types" of receipt paper around me it would be impossible to tell which is best

At least 8 shops i frequent use different receipt paper !

Nice idea though, i'll have to remember that one......

I once used a rizzla (cigarette paper) folded twice over, they are .0001" (a thousandth of an inch).

Worked well, but i couldn't smoke for a while as it was my last rizzla and didn't realize it :hehe

here you go again thunder, sig paper, i didnt think of that. my dad told me a story about a car he had that the gears in the rear end kept shelling out. so his friend that was a machinist used news paper and sig paper. he set the gears so the newspaper would get cut but the sig paper would not. no indicators test or travel. the gears held up.

The sig paper trick is an old engineers answer when feeler gauges are not available or useable. Been around for a good few years too.

An old engineer taught me that trick and I have never forgotten it.
