Well learned my lesson the hard way with the spur gear. Tightened and backed off a quarter turn, well i guess thats not quite enough on this truck. Smoked it instantly, melted the inside of the gear. Now i understand the concept of the slipper on this paticular truck now at least. 2 new gears and a set of friction pegs on the way.

If you melted the inside of the gear the slipper was too loose or you didnt have it assembled properly.

When you install the new spur fill all 12 holes with the friction pegs and clean the friction disks of the slipper of any debris from the melted spur.

ya I'm pretty sure it was just to loose, see my buddy was driving it so i couldnt really tell from the feel and hes new to rc so he couldnt really tell me what was goin on b4 it was to late, i guess hes learning from my mistakes also. but i am farely possitive it was in correct. is there an upgrade to that setup such as the revo slipper or the 3.3 tmaxx or would i not be gaining anything really?

Got the new spur gear in today. In the one i took off originally only had a friction peg in every other hole, but the ones i recieved have enough for every hole. So i say more is gotta be better.Seems to be working great now. Although i now am having a problem with it going into neutral or in between forward and reverse I'm assumeing. Gonna purchase the FOC and try that, anyone else have this experiance?

Yes I did found that my drive shafts were loose and bent creating vibration that made trans shift out of gear

will have to check them out, think there ok though because i was just replacing junk 2.5 axles and i checked them pretty good to see if they needed replacing also. The reverse in the truck does not work for some reason, so i took it all apart and found nothing other than the shaft from reverse fork was sticky. So got it workin smooth, put it back together and still didnt work. So i am assuming if I do the kit it might help, well i hope.

Well the FOC will certainly help the truck not shifting into reverse! j/k :hehe:

ya kinda figured that was coming, figured id leave it and here the smart a__ remarks. I meant from going in between gears.

Your reverse not working is probably due to the engine idling too high. The foc will surely fix the getting stuck between gears problem.

I've heard alot about the idle bein to high. but I'm adjusted down just as far as i can go before the truck will not sit and idle at all.
