Spur gear replacement

Looking for advice on replacing my spur gear, I recall having to tighten the nut till snug then backing off some but I don`t recall the exact procedure or how far to back out the nut.

iam new at rc so my inst might be off, what i did was go by how it performed. i found that the backlash set at .002 works well. most receipts are .002. copy paper is .004. if you have it set at .002 the receipt paper will wrinkle deeply but not tear, then run the .004 through it should get cut into. if the gears dont bind your ok.

Good advice on how to set the mesh. As far as tightening the spur, I recommend in full tight then out 1/2 turn.

Tighten up the nut until it stops and back it off a 1/4 turn.
